Re: The most comfortable SUV <50 lakh?

Isnt the jeep Compass also a contender? The limited plus diesel 4x4 seems nice, rugged as well as decent ride quality. Max may have to change to 17" 65 profile tyres set as they now come with 18" 60 profile.

Re: The most comfortable SUV <50 lakh?

Thanks all for the extremely valuable feedback. Dad has started to use the innova for now and he's happy. Seeing the options we'll probably wait for a few months/year and splurge later on a luxury sedan or SUV from a higher segment.

Agree with GTO! In a city like like Jaipur, Kia would make sense. Kia would definitely build presence there with sales and service support at multiple locations.

The Carnival makes amazing sense for requirements like you.

Re: The most comfortable SUV <50 lakh?

I would add (used) V90 Cross Country to the list. It is a crossover, not an SUV but other than the street presence and marginally lesser headroom, it should be as practical as an SUV. I think it come with air suspension in the rear and the fact that it has a low center of gravity would enable it to have softer suspension.

Carnival Limousine variant is perfect for your use case. You've said that your Dad has started using the Innova and is liking it, the Carnival is even better!

Indeed a very strong contender that the OP can consider. Its one of those rare/hybrid combination of an Estate/Crossover/SUV and with AWD it does fair well in off road situations too and offers a plush ride. But do note that Volvo India is stopping V90s for the India market as Estates are never seen as attractive here. In fact I am still tempted to find a used V90 CC down the line and when speaking with Martial Volvo GM yesterday, he was all praises for this car and did recommend that I can go for a pre owned model from '18 if its well maintained with clean service history.

Kodiaq is the car that your dad should give a try given the requirements.

If chauffeured around - then definitely it has to be the KIA Carnival.

Re: The most comfortable SUV <50 lakh?

For my choice id recommend the Tucson , extremely comfortable and refined with all the loading that one needs . Having driven the GLE and tucson back to back would anyday pick the Tucson and save some dough.

Re: The most comfortable SUV <50 lakh?

While i agree with most suggestions here. I am somehow not for a KIA Carnival. I visited the showroom & had a look at the vehicle. Im not sure if its because i saw a lower variant, but, the interior quality felt really low rent. It felt like it was put together like a 20lakh rupee vehicle.

Dont get me wrong, i own a number of Toyotas & if anything, toyotas interiors are very average to begin with- for the price. But the carnival felt even poorer the minute i stepped in (i went to the showroom in my 2018 Fortuner). It felt like there was a lot of quantity - space, features , shapes etc , but very less Quality. Just doesnt feel like it was worth about 40 lakh rupees.

Since comfort is on the top of your list, i wouldnt suggest the fortuner.

I think a ford Endeavour would really be a much better choice than a Kia Carnival.

Try finding a used 3.2 Endeavour with less than 30k kms on the clock.

You will be very pleased!

Re: The most comfortable SUV <50 lakh?

A used Mercedes GL preferably from the company pre owned cars would be a good option and would tick all the boxes.

Re: The most comfortable SUV <50 lakh?

I think the Kodiaq has an L&K variant that's filled to the gills with features, smothers bad roads fairly well, has good road presence with good driving manners, and the second row is a good place to be.

Re: The most comfortable SUV <50 lakh?

The best option for you is Alturas G4 by Mahindra . The rear seat comfort is divine and price is south of 30 lakhs .Will suite your needs the most.

Re: The most comfortable SUV <50 lakh?

If comfort is your main priority and a big SUV is what you want, go for the MG Gloster. With its 2nd-row reclining captain seats and slightly curved head rests, Its hands down much more comfortable than the Ford Endeavour and will give you a close first-class flight cabin feel. Also, the suspension is tuned to be softer and makes it absorbs road imperfections as if the shocks were greased with butter (since handling dynamics is not on priority).

Even the 3rd row is the most usable of all its competitors. The seat material makes it feel like it belongs to a couple of segments above. Just give it a shot and trust me, you'll love it.

Re: The most comfortable SUV <50 lakh?

MG Gloster seems to be the best fit for your requirements.

There's just acres of space, and even third row occupants would be quite comfortable. It's pretty well loaded, rides nicely and is massive in size and appearance.

Re: The most comfortable SUV <50 lakh?

Just adding something which hasn't been mentioned here, Hyundai Tuscon ! Hyundai's have soft suspension tune and this might work towards your father's choice. It's not a sedan nor a MPV. It's got decent space and comfort to be chauffeured around. You can compare this with a kodiaq, endeavour and gloster and might work considerably cheaper to buy and own than a X5. However if you find a decent pre- worshipped X5, it will be a more appropriate shift from premium badge of an Audi.
