| ![]() gruprs the A6 is a discontinued model internationally. The new one will be launched here too later this year so don't waste your money on an old-gen model. Get the 520d for similar price. 530d is a super performer but you will have to settle for the e60 used one. So it boils down to new 5 series model-520d or old one-530d. If performance is your prime objective then i'd go with the latter. |

Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() This is not the right time to buy a new A6. The next gen A6 is due very soon and the current car feels dated compared to Current E, 5 and Jag XF. |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() The new Audi A6 2012 looks gorgeous. I think it should be available by middle of this year. |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() ^vasoo; the new one is a looker and has some nice sorted chassis as per the initial report. However we will get it later. @sahil: 525d should be better buy than 520d, agree? 530d in e60 is a killer car and thus my single line answer previously. Can you please help us understand if the BSI works on the second hand car? |

BSI stays with the car irrespective of the owner change. But provided the first owner opted for it. BSI cannot be added on after 1st service(1yr/15,000kms) is complete.

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() ^Thanks Sahil. 525d is my choice too. 530d owners are mostly enthusiast who do not let go of the beauty that soon ![]() |

Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() Now that BMW has launched the 520d with the 4pot engine, this should be the variant which should now be compared directly to the 250CDI which too comes with a 4 pot motor offering similar performance. |

Although they both have a I 4 engine. the merc' price and performance figures are in the line of 525d. They both have a over 200 horses. over 400 nm of torque. Even the top speed and 0-60 are similar. 520d on the other hand is an entry level vehicle which is considerably cheaper than 525d and e250cdi. I dont think 250cdi and 520d fall in the same game, despite of having 4 cyl engine. 520 is more on the lines of audi a62.7tdi which is a v6 but only has 18~ horses and is similarly priced. But its a front wheel drive and IMO RWD is always better.

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() I like the idea of going for a used 530D. From what i have read, its not like the f10 is ergonomically friendly anyway. That and a stiff ride on 18s (if it is a highline) should be the sore thumb of the e60. IMO, the e60 even today is a looker,it turns heads. Though the f10 would take the crown of being a much better all rounder, in this case between the f10 525 and the e60 530, the later would be leagues ahead in terms of driving experience and feedback. Provided you are getting a great deal on the e60 you should go for it. Just my 2 cents. Last edited by PlatzdaTurbo : 16th February 2011 at 08:06. |

| ![]() Some discussions on this thread are going on regarding choice between 520d or 525d. I feel 520d is more value for money than 525d. The price difference between both is more than 3 lacs and what extra you get in 525d is larger displacement of 2993 cc against 1995 cc but actually only 20 Hp extra (204 against 184) and 70 Nm torque extra (450 against 380). The other only change is 6 CD changer vs single CD. Otherwise both cars are exactly same. If we don't go for engine size & consider only power what it is delivering, for city driving, is this little extra power worth for > 3 lacs which in city driving may actually not be used ? Regards |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() @PY1963: the difference can't be made out on paper. BMW isn't a naive company to have both these engines in it's lineup. 6 cyl produce less vibrations and has much more locked potential, think 530 like crazy power delivery ![]() |

| ![]() @PY1963, 520d is a really wise choice. Congrats. Obviously t-bhp being an enthusiast forum will always favor the most powerful variant. Unlike in the previous generations, the current 520d has the same equipment levels as higher variants so you won't miss any creature comforts. 520d has an excellent feature that you will use it every time you drive it - longer tank range ![]() You mentioned iDrive doesn't have a remote, etc. for rear seat passengers, if 520d has a USB port then you can buy any android-like phone that gets charged off USB and you can use the phone for all your multimedia/navigational/phone needs with an AUX-IN cable when you are in the back seat. When you are driving, you can use the phone as a USB-hard-disc and you can control the tracks using idrive/steering-wheel-buttons. |

Senior - BHPian | ![]() If extremely spirited driving is not a requirement the 520d would be a much better proposition due to its lower cost. For purely city driving there should not much difference between the 520d and the 525d. If you really want to be VFM, then of course there is the E200, which is much cheaper, and again in city driving would not matter. You also get a slightly better back seat drive in the E compared to the 5. |
