Isn't it wrong to just have 13 rather than 0013 in your plate. ?

Legally you are correct but it depends how Kerala RTO is going about this.

In Telanagana, I have seen many getting fined for having such type of numbers. The police is strict and days it must be 4 digits - 0013 and NOT just 13.

Ask in all it boils down to how the number is given in the RC Book. If it has 0013 then the plates too must carry 0013.

In my opinion, yes it is wrong because 13 can be modified to XX13/ 13XX/ X13/ 13X. So, the proper usage should be 0013 to avoid any stand offs with cops.

It seems legal here in Kerala as I have rarely seen one, two and three-digit numbers with filler 0's. I also heard an RTO agent saying to a car owner that he can use his number '5' as '05', '005' or '0005'.

May be because people here are crazy of fancy numbers and number auctioning is one of the biggest source of revenue for RTOs. People may not be that interested if 0s were to be used before non four-digit numbers as that reduces the fancy factor. The number KL-14-R-1 was auctioned off for Rs. 7,50,000 recently.

re: Number plates & merchandise: Canvas Ink (Gurgaon) EDIT: Closed!

Got the plates for my Altis done by them. Opted for the UK style font with the black frame.
Overall experience was good and Utsav was quite helpful with the installation process as well. One of the nuts had rusted and he got it fixed by an outside shop for no extra cost to me. The delivery time and communication with the customer needs little more improvement although it wasn't a deal breaker for me. Also the black frame that I received had a edge broken off which Utsav changed without any fuss. Still I feel the frame quality needs a little improvement and I wouldn't mind paying more for a better frame in terms of finish if need be.

Overall I would definitely recommend them.

re: Number plates & merchandise: Canvas Ink (Gurgaon) EDIT: Closed!

Does anyone know where one can get a sticker number plate? There are several cars in Mumbai that I see with stickers on the bumper to avoid mounting a frame that ruins the front look of the car. The Jag XF comes with sticker number plates on the front bumper from the showroom itself.

In addition there are small plates I have noticed for the rear number plate that do not have a frame yet the plates do not have screws on them. Are these stick on plates?

You can use 3M double side tape to stick any plate. I am using it, and it has withstood a lot of abuse. Its on my thar.

BHPian karan561 managed to stick IND plates on his 328i with some good ol' 3M double sided tape. I believe something similar is in place with these small plates you mention.

Hope this helps.

Cheers!

re: Number plates & merchandise: Canvas Ink (Gurgaon) EDIT: Closed!

Ordered 2 sets of plates for my fortuner & i10 and I was really happy with the quality of the plates and the delivery time. I made an additional order for a couple of frames and the quality of the frames were also remarkable.

Utsav was patient enough in understanding my requirements and delivering the product in the agreed timelines and kept answering all my queries without the slightest hesitation.

Looking forward to getting it installed on my machines soon and will have the snaps posted [along with the frames] shortly.

Great work Canvas ink team. Keep up the good work

re: Number plates & merchandise: Canvas Ink (Gurgaon) EDIT: Closed!

Ordered 2 sets of plates for both by BMWs from these guys. They arrived in about 3 days, possibly due to the fact that I chose standard German plates. I was quite impressed, and happy that I didn't need to pay 6k for a set of actual German plates. There was one negative, which was that from up close the sticker wasn't too clear i.e better quality printing could have been used. Gave them feedback which was taken in the right spirit.

I will order from here again. Infact I probably will next week for the Skodas
