Inspired by Mi'10 thread. https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-...-remapped.html

Got myself a 1.6 sleeper

StealthCross - My modded black S-Cross-imageuploadedbyteambhp1468395535.015799.jpg

A new car was needed!!

The Safari was approaching 1.5L Ks and starting to show signs of age. Not something that was perfect for impromptu trips to unknown destinations! I didn't want anything too expensive; 15L being as far as i was willing to stretch.

What I wanted:
  • Long distance ability
  • Reasonably Fast
  • Decent handling & ride
  • Ability to take a little bit of rough
  • Reliable and Cheap to run
  • And of course - Modability!
Even though i liked using sedans for long trips since they tend to get you there sooner compared to SUVs, I ruled them out since most of the sedans I used had practical GC issues. Hatches were ruled out too since they were small for my family of 4 and luggage. I ruled out Safari Storme right at the start since I had run out of patience with the TATA service centers and I did witness the gradual disintegration of rubber parts - coolant pipes and such in my Dicor. My Dicor did leave me stranded a couple of times and i was not prepared for a fresh saga with the company.

I did consider the Duster too; the new 4X4 seemed to fit the bill. But my enthusiasm didn't last long enough to warrant a visit to the showroom and take a test drive. That's when i chanced upon mi10's thread on his remapped 1.6 Scross. That definitely sent my pulse racing. The Scross was in my list a couple of years back, but since Maruti wouldn't bring the AllGrip version, i had soon lost track. But Mi10's thread and a few videos later, i mustered enough courage to ring up my car-mad buddies for an opinion. I was expecting rebuttal from at least one of them; but was surprised that each of them asked me to go forward - eyes closed. S-cross 1.6 was it!

Clinching deals for the S-cross 1.6
  • Gem of an engine
  • Premium & pleasant interiors
  • Good body control
  • Decent Handling
  • Comfy seats
  • Roomy interiors
  • Lots of features on the Alpha version
Of course! No car should be left stock! I believe that all cars have some mod potential and subtle changes can take the desirability of any car to the next level. Both my previous cars were not lookers out of the factory, but I believe i managed to bring some spark into those plain designs. Same applies to my current ride.

I chose the dark grey color since a black option wasn't available. The idea was to blacken the car as much as possible but with subtle touches that would make it interesting. The car has a lot of good things going in the engine, Interiors, ride and handling. So I chose to keep the mods limited to aesthetics.

Here is what it went through:

1. 17" Momo Winpros and 225/50/17 Yoko AdvanSport tyres
2. Custom grill
3. Blackened headlights
4. Black painted faux skid plates and side skirts
5. De-decaled
6. Tinted rear light cluster and black painted panel in between them
7. Smoked chrome fog light garnish and rear "S" logo.

Tell me what you think guys!

PS : Hyderabad has been having gloomy weather for many weeks now; so pics could have been better! Shall shoot later and post more pics.

Holy smoke, josepeter are you serious??

It took me few moments to actually realise what car this is. Looks killer dude.

Hands down this deserves a separate thread of its own and loads of pictures. Please WAKE UP your SLEEPER on the forum and share lot more details.

Wow looks killer. Much like a modern day KITT (from Knight Rider)!

More and more pics please, and detailed description of list of mods, performance details etc.!! Please do start a thread of your own on the mean machine.

Boy oh boy, haven't seen such a mod in an S-Cross yet. Thanks a lot for sharing. Double grin was due to the fact that mine is also 1.6 in granite grey color.

+1 to that Vik0728. Being a proud owner of this car for a little over a month now it did take me a while to realize it is indeed an S-Cross. Will anyone dare to say now that S-Cross doesn't look good or understated!

Sleeper is a car that is deceptively quick. The S Cross 1.6 was a sleeper because it looked a normal 1.3L engine variant (average looks added to the image) while packing quite a punch.

But, your car is no sleeper! And that's a good thing. Hands down the best SCross picture I've come across and looks fast standing still itself. More pics please!

This car looks killer . I guess those are Momo Win Pro alloys. Mesh grill and smoked headlights add on to the looks.

I would name it "The Boss". That looks awesome will now will become inspiration to all S Cross threads. Please share more details, unless you want it to be unique.

Congrats on owning the most desirable S-Cross ever

Out of curiosity, where did you get the job carried out, assuming it was done in Hyd?

I am in love again. How I wish I could have got myself a darker shade of gray than the current Blue mystique. On the other hand, I wonder and wonder how this transformation may look on my Blue S-cross.

Going to have a big fight with my dear for spending all the weekend in front of the computer GIMPing my CAR pictures now :(

Congrats again. As many requested/suggested, this pic alone requires a new thread of its own "Jeepsters' the BOSS"
