Well, i've found a civic hatch, but the prob is its got an auto box. Now I could try and source a manual that would fit that engine, or the other option is to get a City 1.5 and plant that in. It would be easier to maintain for sure, but I haven't found any around.

any ideas?

P.S. I'm in mumbai

There are lots of engines available of imported cars in chor bazaar so i guess you could get these too. I had bought one mazda 1.6 with isuzu gearbox from the conti and it ran excellently. Of course its always good to take a technician along when u go.

I put the engine into ... my Premier Padmini when I had one few years ago. It gave me great milaege and performance too. Also i guess it would have been the only five speed Padmini . had great pick up and good fuel efficiency too and was pretty silent . I bout the engine for around 55 or 58 grands i dont remember and the Conti gearshift was a 15 grands. Mazda 1.6 diesel engine

Cheers

Rtech,

the most commonly available petrol engines in chor bazaar are from cars that have opted for dieselization and thus have no use for the petrol powerplants. Other sources are from total wrecks, and of course "chor"s.

Its very difficult to source one from chor bazaar, but not impossible.

hey guys,
HEy you can pick up a civic ds etc engines in the US at local (pick a part) yards for about 1000$. You could also get tuned engines with box for about 1200$ and should be at about 175+hp.

Cheers

well, I'm trying to move away from an auto, so the invex won't do. Secondly, putting a mitsubishi engine in a Honda is just not right IMO!! sacrilege !!

The 1.8 engine with gearbox, if bought directly from HM with bill and jazz, will cost you atleast 2 lacs odd.

A second hand Honda engine, provided you are able to source it, will cost you in the region of 30000 - 60000.

Its all in the numbers, and yes....a mitsu- engine in a Honda is like buying an automatic Dodge Viper!
