Well it wasnt a circus one for sure and a sweet young chinky couple (in their early 20's) rode away on it, trust me it was wierd but really sweet to see someone looking after the lamberetta that way... loved the scooter but for the golden seat covers.

There was talk about a possible collaboration between Mercedes & the Tatas for joint development in the future. The Tatas would henceforth be doing all the engineering & research for all divisions of DaimlerChrysler AG, including Mercedes-Benz & it's tuning arm, AMG.

I also heard rumours about a monsoon weather test mule spotted on Bombay streets - heavily modified by AMG & developed entirely for the Indian market, which has been snapping up Maybachs at an alarming rate.

The vehicle was said to have an overbored version of the Mercedes V12, now equipped as a diesel & with quad superchargers & a displacement of 8.6 litres, pumping out a massive 1140 BHP & 1900 lb/ft of torque! With advanced electro-mechanical four-wheel drive, a new-generation Tiptronic jointly developed with Porsche, paddle shift gears, a complete electronic 'virtual' dashboard, the new vehicle was expected to be the Cayenne beater that Mercedes was looking for, with a price tag of approx. 1.96 crores (ex-factory).

Imagine my surprise & shock

when I actually got to see the vehicle...

It turned out to be a Tata Sierra (1994 model), & my quick presence of mind & philantropic nature caused me to quickly snap it from my phone, for the benefit of fellow T-BHPians who I knew would be dying to take a gander...

Unfortunately, many of the engine mods, technology & innovative features have now been removed due to the vagaries of the Indian markets, a spokesman from DaimlerChrysler said. "Due to the unexpected instability of these systems in the Indian monsoons, and keeping in mind the preference of the Indian consumer for fuel economy, most of these enhancements to the base Tata-Mercedes Sierra have been rescheduled indefinitely. However, some modifications shall remain".

At the time of going to press, only one specification has been confirmed, viz. the AMG badging on the rear of the vehicle. This is meant specifically for 1994 & prior Sierras, as only these have been crash tested by ARAI.

After extended talks with Tata's image management people, the AMG badge has now been redefined to the one you see.

jst the other day i saw a maruti 800 which had a big sticker which said "MISCHEVIOUS BOY " .... god bless the mischevious boy......

would it be rude OR Weird OR Wacky OR simply abnoxious OR litterly a "I couldn't care less" attitude to have the words " BLOW ME" spray painted on your intercooler as oppsoded to HKS or PWR or Turbonetics?????????

I think this is just too cool in its own abnoxious way..!!!
