Re: After-Market Cabin Air Filters

Has anyone tried this brand? https://www.pranaair.com/car-air-filter/ Also, are there any filter recommendations for the XUV500?

Not used these. Looked up the site to check it out.
Seems to make some dubious claims - oxygen manufacturing sieves, photo catalyst etc.

Hella cabin air filter for 1st gen i20

A couple of years ago, I had purchased a couple of sets of Hella brand cabin air filters for my 2010 i20 from Boodmo. The pricing was around 250 bucks a set. After using two sets of these filters, I would not recommend these. The filter material starts emanating foul musty/moldy smell in humid conditions like monsoons. When I was using the first set, I was not sure why there is a moldy/musty smell coming after starting the car which was idle for a week or so, especially during wet months. I replaced the old set with the new set during periodic service. I faced the same issue of musty smell when the car was started after a week or so of no use. I suspected all other things like clogged evaporator or dust in AC vents etc but I had no clue that it was the filter which was causing the smell. Yesterday, I wanted to check the condition of the filters and removed them from the car. I was hit by the same musty smell when I removed the filter. That is when I realized that it was the filter that was causing the smell and not anything else in the car. Infact, this it was so bad that it had caused me a severe throat infection a couple of weeks ago due to inhaling the musty smell. I threw the filter and put the OEM mesh filter which I had cleaned and kept as a backup.

I do not know if Hella uses the same filter material for all their cabin air filters but would recommend these. Better to stick to reputed brands like Bosch and Valeo who are the OE supplier of the filters to many car brands.

Swift Gen 2 2010 doesn't have a 2.5 PM HEPA cabin filter from Maruti. Has anyone found any solution to this?

I had checked boodmo earlier but wasn't able to find it, the filters are a little messed up. If you are able to find, please do share. I generally prefer HEPA only filters.
