Got this removed in my car after about a month of using it, now the cars come back from the service centre with the chime activated again! Any idea on how this is possible? Could a software update reactivate the alert? |
Which Vehicle are you talking about?

This happened in my 530d
Got the speed warning disabled in my Seltos (GTX+ DCT); not naming the dealer for obvious reasons. However, I'd like to throw light on the other alerts that will be
muted after this mod:
1) Turn indicators sound
2) Hazard lights sound
3) Seat belt warning
4) Vehicle Start/Stop welcome sound
5) Single beep when shifting into Reverse
On crossing 80/120 KMPH, the 'Reduce speed' message will be displayed as usual. (Picture taken from our official review post)

Looks like this is not only for India but for some middle eastern countries too.
In this video, a person demonstrates the same annoying thing in his Mercedes Benz car. The comments talk about the possibility of disabling or changing the speed limit by changing the "region" set in the car's computer system.

If that's a possibility, then ECU tuners will soon have some solution to gracefully turn this off without affecting other warning chimes.

Is it done in software or done by cutting a wire?

I would like to change Beep Alarm 100kmph to 120kmph, also enquired with M&M ASS and I was told that they are not authorized to do the same. is this done by ASS or aftermarket centers ?
For Maruti's, its the same speedo console beeper which is there for all the alarms. You'd have to disable that speaker or remove it off. Unless you constantly travel above 120kmph, it's not worth removing it.
I don't mind the once in 2 mins beeps above 80 kmph. Its quite tolerable in my Maruti Brezza, but is damn annoying on my XUV5OO. Way too loud to be drowned out by music.
Does anybody know who does this in Hyderabad? Planning on purchase of Toyota Innova. Will toyota dealers do this?

The technician had to disconnect a wire in the console. Also, he said this is reversible.

Looks like they have just disconnected the speaker module from the cluster. That is a very jugaad way to accomplish this task. So basically
all the warning chimes have now been muted. Please try to reconnect this and try alternate methods to remove just this annoying part of the chimes out.
Hi,
Can you help me disabling the speed alarm in my Kia Sonet?

Do you know where exactly the buzzer is placed inside the car?
I have a MY20 mini JCW. Trying to code this out using Bimmercode. Does anyone know how to do this?
Wanted to be sure about the annoyance level of the speed chimes before investing in a tuner or other options.
Just completed my first highway run of 800 kms over the weekend with the Rapid TSI.
And the speed warning absolutely, positively lived up to its reputation of being a distraction rather than an aid. At the end of the first leg of the journey, reached the hotel and immediately ordered a VCDS cable off of Amazon.
I expected the chimes to be the most annoying part, but noooo, it was the fact that the MID becomes totally useless above 80kmph. It just displays 80 in big fat bold letters. I know I've gone above 80, I can see it clearly in the large circle with a needle pointing at numbers on it as to how fast I'm going and I sure as hell can hear it too with the beeping and chiming.
Sorry for the rant, I'd give you a potato but I don't have any.

Can feel your pain. The MID issue seems to be restricted to the Rapid TSI MFD though, and I am surprised that Skoda hasn't found a way to fix it with a firmware update or suchlike.
Its the mandatory speed beeps that are keeping me from updating my cars. I absolutely hate them! Such a put-off, and actually, quite distracting and counter intuitive for experienced drivers.
If this continues, I'll have to wait indefinitely to purchase my next car. Beep at 80kmph is ridiculous!
