Surprised it came with 220 bhp stock & the new Corollas are much lesser -- very, very strange - does anyone know why?!
well cars which are launched in INDIA are basically tuned up for great mileage , good low end torque and great suspension .
that is mainly the reason why they arent big on HORSE POWER .
You can take the example of the CEDIA engine ...
The Cedia’s two-litre petrol engine(it is the same EVO block) with 16-valves driven off a single cam has been de-tuned for India with modifications to the intake tract and the ECU to suit Indian fuel quality and wallets. It now puts out only a 115bhp and that’s a shame considering that Toyota’s 1.8 litre VVTi motor puts out a full 125bhp.

I'm talking about a B18C series engine which can be transplanted into a Civic. They're JDM Type R spec, and come with 220 hp stock.

Actually its 200 stock & its @ Crank, theres 1 Civic EG here swapped with same motor & its best option for stock power at N.A, the motor is expensive though.

B18 on USDM TypeRs were 195 horsepower. (90s Acura Integra)
K20 USDM is 200
K20 JDM is 220.

Way too much. Can get you same thing about half the price, clean papers too.

A good option would be a Civic with a turbo or transplant, or transplant turbo.
