Thanks a lot badboy for taking hell a lot of interest. My car is a 1.5l petrol. The cold air intake is supposed to increase the hp in the car by about 10-15 hp. Does anybody have first hand experience on that? How much do you guys think a cold air intake would cost?

I have also also posted pics of my car if any of you are interested.

Badboy if you are making enquiries regarding the cold intake please find out where I can source it from in Chennai(assume you are from here).

the 1.3L were made in early 90s, but yes, i dont think they were launched in india..the reason why i asked for engine size is: there is probably no K&N cold air intake for 1.6 L lancer (only air filter available)..

badboy,

i was wondering if a cold intake will be useful ion chennai climate and will i have problems during the rainy season? With the hot weather here and the k&n filter pulling in lot of hot air do you think its a good idea to get a k&n stock replacement filter? which is a better option?

yeah, a cold air intake will be of good use in hot climate places like chennai.and the problem regarding rainy season depends upon how you get ur air intake fitted under the hood..you may get it fitted such that it is not exposed to water droplets so that it cant suck water in..you must discuss this issue with your mech..we got my bro's lancer fitted with only the k&n filter..but i think the cold air induction will be a better choice. after some enquiry,i came to know that k&n cold air kit is better than pipercross for everyday use, because they say pipercross does not perform well in low rpm(it may only be used in racing conditions).

dude I checked out with speedfreaks in chennai and the guy there said cold induction is not a very good idea for the chennai weather as theres no cold air anywhere unless you put ice cubes on the intake. He also said the ows sparks are much better than the ngk's. Is all this true? Can i go in for all these mods?
