Not if you take a few simple precautions, like driving slowly over a large amount of standing water.
Note: If you fit the filter behind your bumper (cooler air, improves performance) then this could be a big risk. Would suggest you stick to the traditional locations in the engine bay.
And of course, if you happen to get stuck on a flooded road, there is a good chance of water getting in through the filter... but I guess this will happen with the OE filter too.

Thanks razor. Will probably go in for the universal then and get it fitted in the usual position. What do you think the universal k&n, flange, fitting should cost me?

The Universal k&n, flange and fitting would cost about 5.8k

Another option is the Reactive filter from pjspeed's shop which is after Mayajal in Chennai's ECR.. since your in chennai.. thats a better option.

Cheaper than the more hyped KnN.. and serves the purpose. Reactive is also made in the US. some bangy boys have even shipped it from chennai for their cars.

I have got Ractive SF100 for my Lancer. Cost 4k with the pipe. Fitting another 3-400 bucks.
K&N, as IronWolf said is around 2k more expensive. Reportedly not much difference in the two.

Nothing to beat going commando. The freedom and lack of restriction it allows you are just out of this world.

Hi,

Pl let me know where it is available so cheap as well. It used to be this price but PJ Speed the importer/distributor in Chennai increased his prices and also currently has no stock.

IIRC, the price increased by a 100 or 200 from 1300.
The piping must have cost the remaining.
