Door Beading and Bumper Beading Useful ?

Hi

I am exploring the two options of going for the door beading and bumper beading on my swift. Was wondering how useful is the beading ? I believe thats its to protect the door and the bumper, but does it REALLY help the way its designed ... I mean looking at the location its placed on the doors, it does not appear that the impact from other vehicle doors is firstly taken by the beading. Wondering

Any thoughts on this?

the beading on the door is useful i have it installed on all my cars as if someone open the door and hit a wall the beading is a little wide which would protect the door from getting damged
but i don't think bumper beading would help much

IMO, both these beadings help to prevent minor damages to the door and the bumper. The door beadings are a boon if you park in an area close to walls or pillars. The bumper beadings, similarly help in avoiding scratches and paint peel off in city bumper-to-bumper traffic where you find jostling cars and bikes trying to push their way through. You would be far fetched in your expectations if you expect something more out of these beadings than this.

Door beading will help with v v v v minor scratch impact from walls pillars, anything more and the door itself will cave in. Bumper strip again is useless. IMHO both are tasteless add on's for swift.

Usefull

Door beedings are ment to prevent minor scratches and dents in the parking lots. Usually the cars are parked too close to each other. When the adjecent car's driver opens the door in a hurry, he bangs it on your door. The presence of side body moulding ensures that the other door does not hit your car body!!

Thank You Everyone for all your inputs.

I believe not only the width of the beading, its thickness, BUT also its location on the door matters.

In BLR, i have seen beading on various doors at different locations. Wonder whats the correfct locations for the door beading.

Can anyone shed light on this?

Thx

Infractions: 0/1 (10)

the best way to find out is,open the door next to a wall and without touching the wall, find out which part of the door comes in contact with the wall.try it slowly so as not to get a scratch on the door.the part of the door which touches first is where you have to get the beading put.
same applies for the bumper protectors but in this case, instead of touching the wall try to get the car as close to a wall(maybe in your garage) and then interpolate to find out which part of the bumper would touch first.
i hope this helps.

The door beadings prevented my car's door from taking a long scratch while i was trying to fit/park my car between the pillars marked as parking space for my car in my building. Had it not been there, i shudder to even think of how long the scratch on my car's dorr would have been.

P.S. : I was still getting the hang of the car then.

Thanked: Once

This topic has been discussed to death somewhere, although i dont really recall where.
I have door beadings installed in my zen mpfi, and believe me, being the tall well built(read fat) homo sapiens that i am, many a times the door has either hit the neighbouring car/wall/pillar, and always i have thanked my stars for the beading being there. I bought mine for around 300-400 Rs, there are many qualities.
Also, make sure that they dont stick the beading to the car with some super adhesive like areldite or something, because if someone steals your beading, then the marks that would be left would be unbearable.

Thanks for the information. I was quoted in the range of 1500 to 2000. Thats why I wanted confirmation.

Will do as advised with respect to the glue
