What I am not sure is how well after-market leather fitting fit well.
It is true that car manufacturers charge way too much for leather otion. When I bought my Corolla, I considered the H5 variant which was 70K more than the H2. But the quality of leather was bad. It was a cheap and hard leather. So I opted for H2 and spent 40K for a finest quality Stanley leather. The OEM version(H5) is nowhere near my car's aftermarket leather be it the fit and finish or the luxury feel.

No...a good quality leather does make a difference. The OEM H5 leather seats feel much harder compared to my aftermarket stanley leather. But the catch is that OEM leather is much more durable whereas the soft leather is very much prone to wear and tear.
