Vikram18's Civic Mods.

Why am I starting this thread?? Well Vikram is plain lazy, thats why
Actually we were all so exited that we all jumped in the car without any camera. I had my E-90 so i played photographer. and since I had the pics on my comp, I with Vikram's permission am starting this thread which I believe i the first of the Modded Civics (new) that exists on this forum (please correct me if im wrong)
OK...
First the background.
The Day before I got a call from Vikram18, who was on his way from Pune to pick his Civic from Bombay, we decided to meet.
What was his car doing in Bombay, when he, was in Pune?
He said he was hoping to be pleasantly surprised.... he had apparently left his car with apna Jigness Bhai aka Viper for some mods.... couldnt speak to him anymore from there on as the line got disconnected and calls to him were replied by the irritating recording... " The subscriber to this number is out of reach".. Damn the network on the expressway.
I could not bear the suspense and called Viper to ask about the mods...and Viper in his usual diplomatic way replied.."Ah yes, yes ...you'll find out.. since Vikram stays in Shivaji Park and hes coming from Pune we will be meeting at Dadar. then you see for yourself "
After about an hour and a half Viper arrives... in his Santro...... "That could not have been the mod?!"... I thought... "A Civic turned into a Santro??"
Vikram was still en route somewhere, out of reach as yet.
Finally Vikram came and was as eager to see his car. Viper was tight lipped about the whole thing.
As we were waiting, a distant burb was heard, hearing which both our ears (Vikram and mine) turned towards the sweet sound. Was that the Civic?..The burb grew sweeter and sounded closer (in the meanwhile Vipers grinning from ear to ear) and then Vikram's Civic turned into the driveway. From the face of it she looked the same.
The same fab 17" Rims and tyres to match (very good looking rims I might add but why was the car looking lowered considerably...maybe its the 17''ers!! Hmmm!!).
The interior was also the same how I had seen it in the past.
Only the number plates revealed something. To the uninitiated its just a sticker but to a car enthusiast its a telltale sign

We plonked open the hood to find this

Thats clever... I you have seen the engine bay of a Civic, the headers look integrated, they look as if they cant be separated and thats what I thought till now. This is a neat job if ive seen one. A single S.S. pipe leading out. Very well done Viper.

The exhaust tips look from the OHC Vtec but something that skipped my mind was, why the original tips were not maintained? Was it for the sound quality? Perhaps Viper could throw some light on it.

Vikram plonked himself in the front seat and Viper took us on a ride.
The firing is sweet not loud but just enough (very very close to a Remus endcan) and throaty, not shrill. The engine roars into life on cranking the key and it sounds great.
We zipped through Dadar to Phoenix mills to Worli (lucky there was no traffic at that time) and I felt the power of the car. What just a header and a FFE job can do to the car is phenomenal. Th engine has become even more free revving and after 4000-4500 rpms when the Vtec kicks in, the surge is to be experienced to believe.
All this while the car was glued to the road and im expecting a thud resulting from the under body scrapping a dip in the road or a speed breaker...Nothing.... There was something more to it...
Noway can a stock Civic be handling itself like this, only with 17''ers and shoes to match. There was something else going on.
We parked the car and had a good look and I discovered something hiding behind the wheels

That Mettalic Purple, is a typical D2 Racing colour. They even have it on their brake calipers

Viper now reveals that the cars got multi adjustable D2 Racing Coil overs front and back. (I just hate this suspense he builds up)
These things do their job very very well.

The Lowrider Look

So Vikram18's Civic has undergone the Stage1 mods
# Headers,
# FFE
# D2 Racing Coil overs, front and rear (they hold like super glue)
# 17'' Rims (HR)- from before
# Matching Shoes (225/45/17 Michelin P1s)-from before
# HIDs with Angel Eyes
# Some deadly sounding Ice (wait let me remember.... Hertz and something else...)- from before. Vikram18, please elaborate with pics

Am I missing anything..... gusy please add and correct

Vikram and Viper, please post some pics and Vikram I envy you for driving back to Pune in that thing. Please post you driving impressions and report too.
Viper Im sure you got some pics too. Please post them and the video clip of the muffler sound you said you had taken.

My three bits:

1)Vikram. right decision man!!... ....and whats next.. 6 pot brakes?!
2)Viper Awesome job mate.
3)I wonder what a port-polish job will do.... and when are you going Stage-!!...III!!?!

Nice writeup Gogi bhai. So a Civic with FFE is fast, what about a nice Intake system with a good airfilter. Should make the car sound sweeter.

Let me get this straight: The exhaust manifold cannot be changed to a header type on a Civic?

where is the header? Can someone post pix of stock Civic please.

I bet the underbelly would scrap or even be left out when you jump a hump

Can't see the headers. Looks like only the end collector has been changed.

Looks good with the lowering, and of course, you can always go back up with the coilovers.

Nope. They're cast into the head.

Exhaust Sound video

Hi,

@v1p3r - As you rightfully said the headers are integrated. What we have done is removed the catcon and fixed a single 1 piece SS pipe, changed the diameters, added a expansion and custom rear end can.

Here is the video file along with the exhaust note.

Actually good question buddy. Even i would like to know.
Dont think the mms have increased. Only the wavery behaviour of the stock ones have been done with. The car is actually looks lowered. What i know is that it was not scraping on places it was earlier. Think Viper will be able to answer that one to the T.
Re the headers.. my bad.. I meant to write a header job but guess in the exitement.. well whats actually been done is..EDIT... Vipers already explained
