Hey dude you have an optra1.6 & how old is the car? These engines are great, why don't you go in for performance mods instead of an engine swap.

I am not so sure about the other engines that can be swapped with the optra but you can surely go in for the 1.8 version.

There sure are guys around (not me, I am a guy who likes it stock) who would be glad to answer your swap query. But, don't you think it is just proper that you list down the reasons why you want that swap in the first place ? I mean, what is the end that you plan to achieve with that swap ?

You can swap your Optra 1.6 engine with a Opel Ecotec engine and get more power. However sourcing the engine wont be a easy job, instead turbo your car and you will get more power. Honestly if your looking at more power and swapping engines, then go for a Honda City and swap a B16

I am sure you want more power and hence want to swap your engine.

Thats true,
There are people here and they are all willing to help.
firstly what i suggest is to have a proper reason for an engine swap.
I may not get into the technicalities but you can see the stuff to be like a heart or hmmm lets say a kidney transplant.
Both the cars need to share atleast the blood group (read things like engine mounts)
Then you need to do stuff like working on the tranny.
Once you are done with your homework only then should you put the car under the surgeons blade....
What you can surely do is to put the car on steroids i.e. performance mods FFE etc.

All the best for the job bro.

P.S. I am not a doctor by profession.

For swapping the Optra's 1.6,only the 1.8 comes to my mind. Above posts provide useful info.

It would be wiser to modify it,considering the engine bay size differences et all!

the thing is a car like a optra doesn't have much swap options(not that it cant be done) but relatively easy to get or carry out engine swaps.like the honda's which have various engine swaps or suzuki's.

the 1.8 is one but for 11 bhp would you carry out that swap?.

but you can can get results by modding your engine with results.

you could go turbo or nitrous.

the problem with the optra is the weight it carry's around.

if swap is what you want you could put a honda engine in there but making sure the mounting position mounts hold will be a tedious task also if not done right will be fatal.

but it would be a huge task something similar to honda zen's.

Guys, maybe his current engine has a problem. That may be the reason for him wanting to swap engines.

Both are different blocks. The 1.8L is DTEC and the 1.6 is ETEC, needless to say both are not performance oriented engines. If you want power, then go for a Honda/Toyota/Skoda vRS or anyother Jap car like Swift, Zen and do a engine swap.

guys the main reason for swapping my engine is just for more power.
As you know stock 1.6 puts up around 104 bhp and rather spending lots of money i can only achieve a marginal increase of maybe 25 or 30 bhp so according to my thinking its better to go for engine swap of around 130 to 150 bhp first and then to slowly mod it. so isn't there any etech 2 or 2.0l around superior engine to go with.

The 2.0L engine in the Optra available abroad is basically the 1.8L with a high stroke. It doesnot put out more power. Look for a Opel engine and import it here.
