Dynamat won't burn/catch fire. The materials are such. However in case of a spark it may not due to the heat of the engine

I need to place some dampening material under the air intake (rubber seems to have worn out) since it creates noise due to rubbing with engine. The mechanic had put a cloth piece earlier but I am not sure whether cloth pice is a good idea! Is rubber better? I have some kids play mats that seem to be made of rubber. Or I could use some old shoe sole.
