Nothing against roots. But I never associated horns with musical sounds. It is more like a taxi kind of thing.

I feel it's quite good. Gives you a change instead of the plain "Blam blam". Not to be used inside cities though.

Taxi I see/hear them in most of the modded cars around.

The melody maker from roots give you the option of changing the tone to different presets(typically 3 or 6 different ones) using a controlbox that you can fix somewhere in the cabin. But the stebel site shows no such thing?? I guess they are fixed sounding musical horns??

Melody maker is always fitted only on electrical horns and not on Air Horns.

Melody makes comes in 2 flavours : 3-in-1(Rs.300-400) & 7-in-1(600-700).

And, Melody Makers are not illegal in India.

What will be the rough cost of a good melody maker with a default tone to sound like a normal horn?? Do i need to take care of any specific wiring issues so that my warranty will not become void??
I sincerely hope you're NOT trying to sound like those irritating Call Centre Cabs.

A lot many things are banned Praveen.

1. Pressure Horns
2. Roof lights
3. Extra Halogens on Bull Bar
4. Horns sounding like police sirens or alarms
5. Psychedelic brake lights
6. Thumping loud muisc blaring inside the vehicle

Etc.,

But still they are being used...

I beg to differ Sir. Under the MV Act of 1959 that covers the whole country, except for the stock horns provided by the manufactures that conform to certain decibel levels, no other kind of horns are allowed.

It is a different matter that the Act is not enforced properly since I doubt if the Traffic cop him/her self is aware of the provisions of the Act.

Now, you've got me confused again. Does electrical horn mean the OEM horn?? or is it the one like the Roots Windtones??

Yeah it's that kind of horn but is a lot less loud than the trucks, I want it for the musical note and not for the loudness.

rider60 said he has one installed. So i'm not T-BHP first. he has posted a link of his install below. Have a look.

Hey I almost missed this post. Just now noticed it when replying.

I wanted a melody maker so that I can switch between tones on the go. Does your setup run with a fixed tone or you can change it?? As long as it has two or 3 decent tones and most importantly the provision to sound like a normal horn, any local thing is fine with me.

And i really dont understand what type of horn to use with the melody maker.
