Performance Upgrades for Hyundai Accent

Hi Guys,

I have always loved the Accent and purchased one recently.

I am quite pleased with the car, its looks, performance among other things.

However, I want to modify my car now. I have already thought of external modifications. I believe in keeping the outside very simple, preferably no graphix, but good set of alloys, bumpers and skirts, spoiler.

However, I want to focus more on the performance of the car.

Another point I want to highlight is that I am not looking at spending too much, at the moment. So please give me two or three options.

1. Bare minimum
2. Medium

I basically want to increase the power of the car, top speed etc.

Awaiting your advice on the same

Your performance upgrade should be in this order-
1.Good set of tyres & alloys.
2.Air filter
3. Free Flow Exaust complete with headers
4.Ecu remap/Piggybank ecu
Later you can go for turbo better brakes, clutch, etc.
Happy Modding!!!

Congratulations Brandon ...

Hyundai Accent is a great car and VFM.

A good set of alloys, with may be upsize tyres for better handling. Rear wing spoiler would be a great add on as well.

For performance modifications, I would suggest you wait for sometime before going ahead with it. For now, I would suggest going in for Green Cotton filters alone. As you close to the end of your warranty you can plan for CAI, ECU remap, FFE etc.

Brandon, congrats on your new ride. You say that you recently bought her. Its not clear if you bought her new or used. If new, any kind of performance mods will void all warranty. Remember this before proceeding.

Exterior: A nice set of up sized alloys and tires is a must. Do you really want a body kit? Why add unnecessary weight?

Engine mods: A properly designed headers and FFE with a less restrictive air filter is the way to go.

If you want TC/remap, upgrading the brakes and suspension is a MUST.

And, NO ICE upgrade???

Hi Guys, thanks for the replies.

It is a new Hyundai Accent (June 2008).

The saddest part is that any modifying can void the warranty. But, waiting for 2 years would be a little hard. But anyways trying to gather some thoughts.

Shuvd: Alloys are definitely coming on soon. I prefer my car being sort of a sleeper, with very few minor modifications on the outside.

Ecu remap/Piggybank ecu-12-25k

As per the alloys and tires it completely depends on your choice...

I don't think there is a tuning box for the petrol engine. I have checked the list of tuning boxes from PSI at the Pete's Automotive Products Pvt Limited

Brandon - Search the forum for reviews of Triphase. If you want to go bonkers, contact Race Dynamics for a stand alone!

Thats the name I was looking for. I came across some on the classifieds ranging from 2000 to 10000. How come there is such a huge price difference? Any ideas.
