plug and plug out boxes prob wont void warranty as they can be removed before service.. atleast in the skoda's you can.

Interesting that they can do cyber/virtual dyno and emission checks, i'm not convinced, seems pointless spending all that money when you can barely use the extra power on our roads maybe for overtaking etc but then you need to beef up your brakes, probably starting with the hoses, discs and pads, then there's the suspension which in my opinion is too high and soft for the extra horses....or if you really want to just plug and play go for it you might just scare yourself to death

Hello Guys, I just found this item on ebay. Price is $150 and $20 for shipping to India.

Chip Tuning Diesel Performace TATA Safari Xenon Dicor:eBay Motors (item 220313949900 end time Aug-14-09 09:11:31 PDT)=

This one too is a plug-in type and they claim 168PS and 380NM. Anyone wants to volunteer for testing?

That's cheap and as the engine has been in use for some time in Italy it may have been tested on a road car, if you're buying i will test it for you

Having pushed the Safari handling and performance on almost all parameters I can say with a certain degree of conviction, that the handling, suspension, braking & steering are not designed to handle the extra grunt of a tuning box. At best you could impress in a straight line but anything else will certainly require specialised skid/roll recovery skills and control, inspite of which it will be a hair raising experience for the driver if he/she manages not to turn turtle.

Add to this fact the sensitivity of the 2.2 engine, as experienced by myself and most other users on this forum and it certainly isnt worth it by a long shot.

I would suggest to anyone considering a tuning box to first drive their Safaris to its existing potential. No offence meant to anyone, and not meaning to say that I am any better than the average Safari owner.

I am also giving the torque figures for the same vehicle. There appears to be even more headroom for increasing the power and torque of the vehicle.

These results are for a Unichip tuned Safari.

As long as your engine is in good condition and is not consuminng oil or suffering from any other symptoms, it should be as safe as on a new vehicle.

CHIP Xpress tuning box does what it says on the tin - it increases power (mid and high) and torque without any increase in temps or other side effects that have been proven to exist with some other tuning boxes like Rapid 4x4 (Italian). It made the old 3.0 Dicor much smoother and significantly faster.

Chip Xpress ran on my vehicle for about 15k kms and has since been running on ex-member hrag's truck for the last 18 months or so.

TML did not void warranty despite finding the old Rapid 4x4 box connected after it may have possibly caused a crack in the cyl lining, they replaced the liners under warranty.

Looks like the new Aria Auto will be 156bhp/400Nm ! Similar to what a tuning box can deliver on stage 1.

Found a spider box for sale at TBHP Classifieds and hence pinged the seller coz he now has a remap for his 2.2L.


This is what he had to say ( I have his permission to post).

TDI racing did the remap.

The remap does definitely yield much more power.
The tuning box like I said is removable and can be sold.

If I had to choose again, I would have probably skipped the box and gone straight for the remap.

My odo is at 54K
I also think remap is what one should get coz it should be better for the engine in the long run.
