I do that frequently but my duster is hardly a few months old and hence would need to wait and see whether the technique is effective

An exact 'Made in China' replica of Jopasu car duster is avilable in NCR for Rs 99/- only!
It has the same dust picking ability as the Jopasu duster. I picked up 3 at a time before they run out of stock..

I dont think it is avilable on the net.. I got it from Noida..
I am planning to take the plunge ...rather plunge the Jopasu in a bucket of water. Based on the feedback on this thread so far i guess i will be sticking to plain tap water and will not be using any soap/shampoo. Will update the thread with results.

Just don't dry it under direct sunlight afterwards.
I bought the jopasu duster from ebay a couple of weeks back. The delivery time was excellent (2 days from date of placing order). The duster is very good at picking up dust from across the car - most times, a single wipe is enough. The only issue is that my hands start aching by the time I finish. I wish the handle was longer so that I could use both hands or that the angle of the handle was better so as to improve the ergonomics.

Excellent tip.
I read it a bit late.
My duster was getting so dirty that i decided to take the plunge.
Washed it with directly under the tap without any detergent and dried it in the sun.
Voila!!!! It stopped working :D
It just like a broomstick.
Any tips on getting it back to shape?

If the handle was any longer I don't think that would cure the aching in your arm as the weight would only increase, however insignificant. And then comes the storage part also, longer means more space to store it, angle in the handle means it would take up all the more space, folding handle would mean more cost and high probability of the plastic handle breaking from the folding point, just my opinion.

The strands of the duster originally have wax which has now been lost, so yes you are right when you say that its like a broomstick now. A DIY would only be possible if (1) we knew what kind of wax was on the strand (2) how much wax was on each strand and (3) figure out a way of applying the wax evenly on each and every strand.
You may continue to use it as it would still be removing the dust if not pick it up or else just buy a new one, don't think we can respawn it.
A new version of the duster is to be launched, it has better strands, heavier too. Not sure if its started to sell and exact price - supposed to be R 100 higher approximately. My old one is going strong!
I washed the Jopasu after 5 months of use. Cleaned it without any detergent under tap and also by plunging it in a bucket all with cold water.
Was careful not to dry it under sun. It took 3 days to dry out.
I seems to be working fine :thumbs up.

I happened to talk to a user who is not on this forum, the new one is clearly better. It has more weight as the strands are thicker and more durable. Even the guys from UD(mkh and nirmal) told me the same. I am planning to change to the new one soon, the cost is 100 bucks more.

Got the duster with the new white strands, yesterday, used it only once. Its good, removes dust without a trace. When I ordered for it, I did not expect it to be this good, wanted to try it for the sake of trying. Got it from ebay, delivery time was great too, 2 Days flat. The microfiber cloth for wet wipes are good too, soaks up a good amount of water. It does leave a very fine water stain if not wiped completely dry. Also was wondering how the white strands will look after a couple of months, considering that it should not be washed with water.
Have not used the old grey one, so cant help with the comparison.
