This happens for two reason.

1. New duster. After a few use and dust getting picked, excess wax stops smearing over car surface.

2. Using duster on wet or misted surface. Never use on wet surfaces as wax will get smeared on surfaces.

Oh Yeah! I think it might be due to this reason as mine is pretty new as I have never used it on a wet surface. Thanks mate.

Update

This is now sorted. I kept the duster in direct sunlight for a couple of hours and it is not leaving any wax behind while cleaning :)

I got my new car 2 days back and have order the Jopasu duster on amazon as well. I have gone through the thread and understand that it should not be used on wet surfaces and glass surfaces in the initial few weeks of usage. But does it work in cleaning up the dirt/slush which gets accumulated on the car after it rains (and the water has dried up).

Any other do's/don'ts? How long does one duster last (if you are using it for an SUV sized vehicle)? And does it eliminate the need of a car washer?

It lasts until it stops picking up dust. Quite a while, actually: haven't really counted, but certainly a year or two. Then you can wash it and re-wax it: it's easier to buy a new one. Don't worry about it looking filthy, it will. Only if it is still picking up dust.

You will still have to wash off sticky stuff, greasy stuff, and the dust that sticks to them.

I just bought a new one. My old one had plenty of life left in it, but I did a very stupid thing. I used it to remove steel-grinding dust that I should have washed off. Dust is one thing; dust that I know is highly abrasive is another; I decided not to use it again, especially as I had had the car polished.

Hello Jopasu users,

I just got a new one. Can it be used on the windshield, headlights and tail lights as well?

Of course, only when they are completely dry as I understand that the duster is strictly not for wet surfaces.

I found contradicting information on this here as well as on Youtube. Hence this question even though this might have discussed many times over. I could not find what was the conclusion.

Just wanted to post an update on my Jopasu duster:

I bought one in year 2014 and i am still using it. Haven't yet counted the number of uses last 6 years but its still picking the dirt. The duster looks extremely dirty now but as long as its picking the dirt I am good to go with it :D

Ordered the duster yesterday and delivered today by Amazon. I will be carrying for the delivery of my new car and make sure they don't use a cloth on the car. I have instructed my SA. Here's what I plan initially, let me know if it would be the right things to do.

1. Use the duster when leaving home if I haven't covered the car. Use it just before covering the car. Just a question as I see different comments on this - No duster on windshield when its new or no duster ever?

2. On the detailing front I'm planning an induction pressure washer, wash n wax shampoo, clay and wax since the new cars clear coat needs to be preserved. I don't need any polish right now, correct?

I think I'll also skip the free wash I'll get at the service center when they call me for the 1k & 5k inspections.

Well... for what it's worth, I use mine on the glass. True, a brand new one might leave a trace of wax, and I do dislike wax on glass. You'll have a good-quality glass cleaner in your collection? And a more powerful glass polish, for occasional use? Very necessary :)

Better to prepare a dedicated glass cleaner with Sonax or whatever in a spray bottle. The household Colin has ammonia in it and will for sure leave spots on the black plastic trim if misted and not wiped off immediately. There's a high chance of that happening while spraying the windshield. Both inside and outside.
