Are Tireflys illegal ?

Tireflys are LED tyre valve caps. I was going to buy a set as a present for someone but thought it would be best to know the legality of these.

Are these legal to use in India ?

In case you do not know what they are, have a look at :

http://www.litewave.co.uk/tire_flares.asp

There are many types available. Probably best to go for the locking ones unless you like giving things away.

I was going to buy a set off ebay (England seller) . Someone has them for £2.99. But they are not the locking ones so I am going to look around and see how much I can get a set of 4 locking ones for.

They are cheap in Hong Kong but I do not know anyone who travels or lives there so I will have to pay UK prices.

They are for my neighbour (he is also a distant relative) in India. He has an Accent. He likes cheap fancy things so these will make a good gift for him.

I don't think these are legal in India. One of the rules states that
- Spotlights, search lights, fancy lights, mercury lamps are expressly forbidden.
- Dome lights are not permitted unless specially authorised.

I think these won't look any good on Accent.

LOL.

My neighbour likes anything tacky. In fact years ago he painted the steel radials on his Maruti 800 white to stand out, he also used to have tacky animal fur effect seat covers with a matching cover thing stuck to the front dashboard. I am sure he would love these. If not he can put them on his nephews bicycle.

Wow spotlights are forbidden. What if you get some of them really cheap Hella type with a cover and do not connect them ?

PLEASE tell that to our "Inter State" buses and lorries who have all sorts of lighting fixtures. I would've thought that its illegal to have more than two headlamps, but we see buses and trucks with 4 headlamps and then 4 more fog lamps in addition.

With all those jokers breaking the law gleefully I dont think tacky lil lights on the valve caps will be a problem.

If he likes fake fur in his car, this is THE gift for him

Thinking about it, I think I better get another 4 for my neighbours tractor. He used to have tinsel and xmas tree type lights on it, so these should be a welcome addition to his tractor.
