Finally found the right combination for my swift projector headlamps. The install is finally done. 100 Philips rally on my low beam (projector), 6000K HID on my high beam, and 4300K HID on my fog lamp. Just did a trip to kerala and back, just found it perfect on the highways, and also during heavy rains.
Cheers..:thumbs up |
You have a bulb on Low Beam and HID on High Beam ?

Has anyone come across, or used these? They are Indian made, and claim to offer 1yr+ warranties. Compact lamps, Halogen Lamps, Auto Lamps, Head Lamps, Xenon Lights, HID Conversion kit, Halogen Lamp Manufacturer India. Xenon Lamps, Spy Cameras, Surveillance Solutions, DVR, LED Light, India |
The first guy states that they are 6000K. The second guy gives no details in his web-site but the picture indicates at least 6000K. These seem to be importers of the stuff not manufacturers.
Cheers,

It is the projector headlamp as clarified by Fountain header. Here is the image to get you an idea of the setup.
Sportsmind and Fountainheader, thanks for clarifying that :thumbs up
@ Sportsmind: The setup looks cool :)
Cheers,
gpa
Well, ideally speaking you should have HIDs in the low beams and normal bulbs in the high cos the HIDs take time to light up right? So if you need to flash your lights, you're stuck. Happened to me when I had mine.

I'm looking for 100/90 Watt bulbs for my headlights in the following sizes:
9005 and 9006.
I need the best visibility, I'd like some cosmetic effect of whitish light, but don't mind it even if the lights are YELLOW. Need better visibility for night driving. |
9005 and 9006 are single filament bulbs. 9005 is HB3 - 60 W (High Beam) and 9006 is HB4 - 51 W (Low Beam). Hence you can not get 100/90 double filament bulbs to replace them.
Higher wattage or alternatives in these categories are rare and even Nightbreaker family does not have them. Someone said Narva but not sure if they have.

Aah, makes sense though, but everyone with bi-xenons has to live with this.
I guess now Sportsmind will just have to rotate the HL stalk everytime he needs to "flash" someone (not literally). lol:

I have got away from the habit of flashing. I observed guys just give me the pass when i have my 8000k high beam on. If there are still guys who dont, then you have solved the problem, one hoot of the Stebel nautilus, and they give me the pass:)..Thanks.

Hi Sportsmind! Can you please guide me to one of the best HID conversion kits for my new ford Ikon? Also, how much would both the HID and the Stebel's cost?
Any specific config I should be looking for?

The HID kits costed me around 6k for each pair. The stebels from Ankit costed me 900 Rs. Not too sure with Ikons head lamps. The fog i am sure you can go with 4300k. The headlamp i guess you will need a Bi..

I had fitted a HID kit for the headlamps of my Swift. I was advised to go in for the P4 HID kits of 6000K. These were fitted in November 2008 and also LEDs for my parking lamps. However, the LED bulbs fused after a month and so did ballast of the left headlamp. As the HID kit was under warranty, i had the same replaced free of cost and changed the LED to ones of a better quality. After a little more than a month, the LEDs fused again and just yesterday the left headlamp failed. This time the bulb had fused. I had the bulb changed again under warranty.
The HID kit has not even completed 6 months but has failed twice already. The LED parking bulbs always seem to fuse but i never have an issue with regular white bulbs. Again, why does only the left ballast or bulb fuse? Ive asked the distributor the same and he claims that sometimes they have encountered multiple complaints with certain cars only, but otherwise the kits have worked perfectly. He however does not claim the kits to be faulty nor does he claim an issue with the electricals of the car.
Can anyone please help me with this issue? I am also planning to fit HIDs in my fogs but reconsidering due to these reliability issues.
Epic
Hey guys. Can anyone help me with the above issue?
Epic,
I'd sincerely advise you to get rid of the HIDs and go for Philips 100/90 with Relay!
