Using the 55w bulb will cause any burns in the reflector or any load?
I am not sure if the 55W bulbs will cause and burns in the reflectors but I dont believe there would be any extra load.

Hi,

I have noticed that the reflectors of my fog lamps on my 2005 Swift are damaged. The silver reflective coating have developed cracks and also the edges of glass of the fog lamp is lined with dust from the inside. This totally destroys the look of the lamps and more over suppresses the intensity of light reflected on the road.

Ofcourse the only way to rectify this is to have the fogs lamps changed. However, I am sure that the lining of dust inside the fog lamp could be due dust entering due to an opening in the covering in wheel wells, but what could be the reason for the cracked reflectors?
Can anyone help me with the above issue?

There is no bulb for the headlamps between 60/55 & 100/90 without relay modification?

Incase I decide to go for a 100/90 bulb for my swift, which is the best relay system to be used? Won't the bulb cause any damage to the head reflectors?

@ Epic: Probably a loose fitting of the fog lamp bulbs or the connectors have resulted in water and dust entering the fog reflectors and thus causing the damage? Had you changed anything related to the original foglamp?

Reflectors can crack because of the water, heat and dust combination.

Well no water has entered the fog lamp assembly for sure or else there would be signs of moisture and would also probably cause the bulbs to blow which is not the case. But yes there could be a loose fitting which has allowed dust to enter the assembly.

With regards to changes made, yes, I have changed my stock 35W H8 bulbs to 55W H8 bulbs. Could this be the reason of the reflectors being damaged due to extra heat caused?

Can the interior of a headlamp/fog lamp assembly be cleaned? If yes, what is the procedure?

Epic

@ Eric: Moisture does enter reflector areas no matter what protective measure you take. The combination of moisture, dust, heat does result in glass getting spoilt and reflectors also get damaged.

The change of bulbs also results in whats happened with you.

Apart from that 4 years is decent time for a wear-n-tear. ;)

Got Osram Nightbreakers H4 60/55 after some serious search in Bangalore, JC road for 1200 a pair. Philips extreme vision wasnt available and they said that there was no supply since 2 months.

Did you check with AK Traders who is the authorised stockist for Philips' automotive lighting range?

I was considering to fix a pair of Lightforce lamps for the CJ340.

Planning on the Lightforce Blitz. I have had good reviews from people who have already have them fit.

Any reviews on the same here?

Amar has a pair for his gypsy and Allan has some on his Orange MM550. Very nice light but quite expensive.

I am thinking about them as well, do they have any OEM headlamp shapes for our desi cars? What kind of costs we looking at here?

22K for a pair of 240 Blitz.

Guys, I am currently running all OE lighting on my 2007 Swift VDI. I am thinking of installing HID xenon (4300K) just for the fog lamps (H8). Do you think its a practical thing to do? I understand 4300K should be almost equal to the OE fog lamps. I will go for a 100/90 Halogen setup for the headlamps. Any indicative prices for getting the HID in the foglamps done?

Its not for the bling factor as I am looking towards practicality. Any members who already have a HID setup in the Swift Foglamps? Need advise on this....please:

Rs.18500 for 240 Blitz in Bangalore. Comes with 3 colors of extra covers, blue, yellow and red.

As far as I have understood these lights are extremely strong. Polycarbonate shield makes it shatterproof and very light. Care has to be taken on making the clamps as the lights tend to shake if not fixed right.
Original wiring harness alone costs 4500. Yet the lights can be fixed with a direct connection excluding the harness, however the warranty goes void in that case.

@technocrat, I do not understand how this thread has been moved to the 4x4 technical section. Light force lamps are a common sight on cars too.

@bigman, Amar and Allan are the only guys here who I have seen sporing these lamps.
