I have 3000K 55W HIDs in my Civic fogs, but am regretting not getting 2700K. 3000K is pale yellow, and in bad fog I will prefer a yellower tinge.

But HID's come with very high lumen output right. I used to believe a 55w HID should give 2-3 times the light output than any 55w Halogen counterpart (even extreme vision plus from Philips) can provide. In that case white/bluish tint light from HIDs should be good enough to penetrate any rain/dust, right? Otherwise how come all the new age luxury cars come with white light. Hope you have projectors installed as well.

Did a google check and found out the lumen package of the same from Philips homepage itself.
http://www.philips.co.in/c-p/42403C1...specifications

Philips Extreme vision 55w H7 = 1500 lumens, For Plus lumen package is not given, but we can expect a maximum of 1800 lumens.
Philips D3S 35w (I can't find any 55w HID from their website) - 3200 lumens, which is almost double. And hence 55w should be easily three times that of extreme vision plus.

@petrol_power; It is true that intensity is excellent on any half decent HID. However, one thing you are not looking at is the amount of backscatter. In thick fog that alone will blind you.

Any one have idea about this product -> DLAA 1001 High Power Sleek Aux Lights Yellow-Mahindra Xylo Type 2 Car Halogen Bulb ? Any review on this?

Bhpians,

I want to buy a pair of H7 Philips diamond/ White vision bulbs for my car. What is the best place online to buy them. I don't want duplicates.

Thanks. Thing about white vision is they come free with 2 T10 4300k halogen bulbs that would match the bulb colour.

Finally got the aux lamps attached. They're pretty bright and wide for their size. Running 55w h3.

Ps:the bonnet is open.

I had fitted, in 2013, a round DLAA fog lamp on my Ford Fusion. Got it for around Rs.800. Fitting cost me Rs. 500. Excellent value for money & good performance.

Go ahead and get it..

I am looking for a setup like this too.

1. Where did you get the installation done from?
2. Do these shake while driving?
3. I don't have projectors in my car, just want something that lights up the road properly and I am able to see further away (without blinding oncoming vehicles). My low beams disappoint wrt to the distance and brightness.
4. Price of the lamps and the installation cost.

Thanks! :)

Got it done from my fng. The attachment is done on solid 5 mm bits of steel welded to the frame and out from the fog lamp gaps,so no bumper holes.
The projectors are useless. Stick to stock. Get higher wattage bulbs.
The lamps are 600 bucks , the installation is 400 all inclusive.
And about vibrations, I don't know yet. Will tell you after a drive tomorrow.

I had Diamond visions in my car, I wasn't very happy with the results, especially in rains, bad weather. They are ok for regular city drives though.

Your usage and expectation might be different than mine. So, search this thread for "diamond vision" before you make the purchase and take an informed decision.

Hi Folks,

Can anyone suggest a place to procure Hella 60MM high beam light? Need the same to install in my car

Guys, how much resistance would I require if I want to run a 10W led off of a car battery, through the parking light wiring?
(If that makes sense)

Bumping:
These are the pecs of my LEDs:
1.LED Emitter: 10W
2.Output Lumens: 800-900LM
3.DC Forward Voltage (VF) :9V-12 V / DC
4.DC Forward Currect (IF) : 1050mA
5.Color Temp: 5700-6300K(cool white)
6.Beam Angle: 140 degrees

Can someone tell me if I wire these up directly from the car electrics, or will I require to use resistors?
I am using Aluminium DIY heatsinks, so heating is not a problem.
Planning to use 4-6 LEDs. How to wire them?

Dude, the dc forward voltage is 12v. So no need of any resistors.
Also, with which circuit you are gonna fix these up?
Knowing that, i could spit some more technical jargons out.

Car battery voltage is 12-14.4V. I always recommend to use a driver when driving LEDs. Since input voltage and output voltage is similar, it won't be too expensive.

The problem comes when you take a 30W LED with forward voltage of 25V or something. In that case you need a boost which requires big heatsink and blah blah blah all the complications.

For a 10W LED + Driver, a simple aluminium base plate should be good enough. However, you have to very particular about waterproofing. The problem with most DIY solutions boils down to
1. Waterproofing
2. Lack of narrow enough lenses for automotive application.

Alternatively. you can buy 3XLED flashlight, take off the LED part, and connect it to battery 4.2V*3 =12.6V. These can take 14V with ease.
The light output is spectacular, however the cost can go around 25$/flashlight for cree XML t6

What do you mean what circuit?
I am placing them in my headlights.

Thanks. I was looking for DC DC converters, but am only able to find them on Ali. There was one on Ebay, but its rated to maximum output of 1A, which wont be enough.

Check this out

You can choose the 7$ 50W driver to power 4 LEDs
