My Red grills have served me for over 2 years in heat, rain, dust and grime without a hiccup. People who do not buy Hella are missing on something.

Hey Ankit,

I think I might have given a generalized opinion. I apologize to all on this thread but the 'allergic' nature that I had referred to, was limited to the trumpet horns from Hella's stable.

About the 'non-trumpet' designs, I have a friend who has been using the Red Grill since about 20 months, & no problems yet whatsoever.

Thanks & regards.

Arggghhhhh, Why did i buy Hella Red Grill:Frustrati
Last night they gave up again, and to add to the woes it was raining heavily and due to mud on roads, headlights were covered with Muck.

I have spent almost 3K on these crappy Hella's
Time to have them melted in a furnace:deadhorse
Now will switch to some 500 bucks horns

Go for Roots windtone, they are good enough. They have been serving my Swift for last 2 years without a hitch, and will come within 500 bucks!

I am thinking of getting these

Root Industries Limited - Products - WINDTONE

The W90
has a SPL of 112DB:D

any idea,as to how much do they cost?

I think i've W90 in my car, just guessing them by shape, don't remember the model though. I got them for 450 bucks from Karol Bagh in New Delhi 2 years back, plus 50 bucks for fitting here in Bangalore.
And they really sound well, powerful but still not harsh.

Got Bosch Windtone's for 420 bucks:thumbs up
found them to be better than roots, which were retailing at Rs 550

Cool! Enjoy the humming sound now! :)

Got these recently

Bosch symphony (skoda make). Very useful for highways.

Guys, horn on my i10 sportz is very weak. Do you guys recommend upgrading to bosh/roots windtone?

I do not want any musical horn, just something that can kick the living daylights of the pedestrians who simply cannot hear me honk! *just kidding guys*

If you want to scare the living daylights out of anyone; here are the ones just for your I10 but your dicky space will be history.

Will be pretty expensive though but will serve your evil purpose of kicking the living daylights out of jaywalkers and errant auto rickshaw drivers.

On a serious note any twin tone horn from Roots will be good enough. Hear them all out to buy the one you are comfortable with.

As far as current consumption goes the most efficient from the roots range is the one below.
Root Industries Limited - Products - CLEARTONE:thumbs up

If current consumption is not an issue and all you want is loud horns then the best and the second best are mentioned in order.
Root Industries Limited - Products - MEGASONIC

Vibromax is your second best option.
http://www.rootsindia.com/html/vibrosonic.html

I would give the wind tone horns a miss because a minor air leak due to rubber disintegrating would render them useless. Spare for wind tones are rarely available but spares for the megasonic and vibrosonics are easily available.

Also never buy horns that are sealed as replacing spares is a pain and the contact points cannot be replaced. Always buy ones that can be dismantled and you can use them for the life of your car.

Ok dude let me hear the roots series. I guess something which is efficient and good would e alright for me. Any details on the cost of the CLEARTONE horns + installation?

Guys any idea where to get Roots Vibramini horn in NCR - preferably near Noida/Gzb ?
