Has anyone used the new gtechpro

http://www.gtechpro.com/
I did a search in t-bhp. Revmaster have used it.. but he must have used the older version. Has anyone used the new versions. This is the most simplest installation.. connect to the cig light adapter and mount it in your windscreen. It works on plain physics through accelerometer and spikes in power supply. Is it available in india.. i's available in US for $199.99. The features for the base model is awesome:
See here http://www.gtechpro.com/ss.html

Disclaimer: I am not associated with gtech. It's just that while watching speedtv, I came to know about this product.

I use the Gtech base model, and am EXTREMELY happy with the features and accuracy of results. Forget whatever price the official website gives you...pick one up from ebay. I dont see too much of a value addition in going for the high end model. Base is perfect.

Its an entirely different story that a fellow BHPian has borrowed my Gtech since 6 months and does not seem to be in a mood to return it

They can get rpm and Horsepower etc., from cig lighter socket?? How is that possible. Anybody got any details of that, i.e. the technical specs

I guess they use accelerometers to measure the 0-100 timings. Once the weight of the car is factored in I guess we can get an approx power figure after accounting for drag, wheelspin, friction bla bla bla

it uses the ciggi lighter only for power ...not for the info ..its got sensors which collect data ...just attach it anywhere u want to ....

www.ebay.com for $50 only. Best fifty bucks I ever spent in my life.

A word of caution though : It is HARMFUL to your transmission simply because trying to better your last time is addictive!! With the amount of times I have dumped the clutch on my Vtec...

i had read about it long ago ...but as far i can remember ..u can fix it anywhere and yeah no cables other than the ciggi ...
http://www.gtechpro.com/why.html

this says that RPM sensing is done through the lighter and then torque is calculated using Rpm and the accleration ...

mabbe my theory of using power from the lighter is wrong ...

Gtech

A friend of mine has used GTECH and has found it quite accurate.
It measures
1) Horsepower
2) Torque
3) distance timings like 1/4 mile etc
4) 0 to 60 and 0 to 100
5) It has shift lights and RPM meter
6) It also records your timings

The latest addition also has a PC downloadable option.
These feedback is obtained by the cigarette lighter and also it has 3 sensors that do the job.

Forgot to add there are 2 models that cost 199 and 299 $ respectively

very true.
the new GTECH is good. We had an old one which failed. Fortunately we got a replacement from them and it works fines.

We had an Esteem which clocked 18.7 in the drag. That same vehicle on the GTECH did an average of 18.4 (average of 5 runs).

So i guess it works !! cheers !!
