Want to be a Track Marshall at the Indian F1 GP? EDIT: Now closed.

To some of us, being by the track with Formula 1 cars racing @ 18,000 rpm is reward enough. Here's your chance to be on track and, at the same time, support the Indian Formula 1 initiative.

India's maiden F1 race is scheduled for 30th October, 2011. If you are interested, simply fill out the attached form and email it to f1@team-bhp.com. EDIT on 20th December, 2010 : Application deadline has closed, and this email address is no longer functional

NOTE:
  • Training of 3 - 10 days will be provided by the race organisers
  • The F1 weekend entails 4 days on track (Thursday practice to Sunday race)
  • Preferred : Volunteer Marshalls from the North India region. Of course, even if you are from other cities, you are most welcome. However, you will have to make your own travel & accommodation arrangements

This is entirely a voluntary role, yet one that will give you a phenomenal insight into Formula 1. Read up Mclaren Rulez' First-Hand Report of his experience as a Marshall at the Singapore GP.

I have emailed the questionnaire.
Few questions though, would be helpful for all the members.

1. Venue of the training programme.
2. Approximate dates for the programme.

I've just sent the form to the mail address. Please inform the next steps that'll happen after this. Would just love to be beside the track during the inaugural IGP.

I have a question. Will the training be in one stretch of 10 days or in different phases?

Just one question - why is the request over one year in advance. Most of us would not have the remotest clue about our career/personal constraints.

Even anyone who does so, can always back out later, right? This is neither monetarily not legally binding, it?

I would love to volunteer, but I have honestly zero clarity today. What do you advise?

Thanks for the lovely offer though - its a great day to be a BHPian!

I suppose it would be on and around the track itself. Even though a max period of 10 days has been mentioned, they should easily be able to fit all the training in 3 days. At one stretch.

Will check on this with the organisers and revert.

Even though we are sending our applications right now, the ball should start rolling only by the 1st quarter of 2011. The motorsport authorities also have to plan out the logistics, including a decision on whether they need to call in marshalls from other countries.

It's not binding. However, I would highly recommend your submitting the form ONLY if you are positive about participating (except for extreme or unavoidable circumstances, of course). A no-show will definitely wipe out your chances of marshalling at the subsequent Indian Grand Prix'.

Two-wheels

I know its too premature, but I really want to be a track-marshal once Moto GP or WSBK rounds start.

pit talk--There are talks on going with both the classes and we should see some two wheel action in 2012.

How can I keep myself updated about the two-wheeled thing? Would the news for Moto GP/WSBK be out here?(like this news)

I am desperate, hope you understand and equally happy for my F1 following fellow Bhpians.
