Royal Enfield to make 1000cc monsters?

Quote:
As Royal Enfield plans expanding its plant capacity, rumours of 750cc and 1000cc machines have been flying thick and fast.

In line with expanding production, Royal Enfield has announced the setup of its new plant once again in Chennai. In response to the huge demand in domestic as well as international markets, the new plant will nearly double the production to 1,50,000 units annually.

The 50-acre plant, which is slated for the 2013, will demand an investment of Rs 350 crore, spread over the next five years. The facility will be equipped to produce the entire range of the company and will be backed by the proximity of vendors and supply chain in the area.

Re: Royal Enfield to make 1000cc monsters?

Thanks for the good news buddy, I will be the first one to book the 1000 cc ne if its launched in India. I am sure there will be no matching compitetor for RE if they come up with higher CC monsters.

Re: Royal Enfield to make 1000cc monsters?

Really doubt that its going to happen anytime soon. RE can't handle the current demand, forget being able to meet additional demand with new bikes; even if they increase the capacity.

And incase they do... I would not be surprised if they are export only models.

Rediff has run the story. Take it with a pinch of salt.

Oh my GAWD!!!
Hopefully they get their 350 & 500 evergreen problems sorted out before they start with this experiment.
God save those blessed ones who would put their sweat and blood to own one!!!

Re: Royal Enfield to make 1000cc monsters?

I'd love to be elated by this piece of news, but knowing the Design issues that their 350 cc and 500 cc Mini-Monsters face, I'd actually shudder to think what the 1000 cc and 750 cc beasts might have to endure.

Re: Royal Enfield to make 1000cc monsters?

Oh think of it this way -
2 niggling problems with your 350 cc RE? Then it will become 2 X 3 = 6 niggling problems on your 1000 cc RE.
2 niggling problems with your 500 cc RE? Then it will become 2 X 2 = 4 niggling problems on your 1000 cc RE.

Simple math.

Re: Royal Enfield to make 1000cc monsters?

I just checked the pigs aren't flying.

They cant get a 500 cc, 20 odd bhp bike to handle well. With 1000cc I wouldn't let my mother-in-law ride it(on second thoughts maybe i would at WOT )

PS: Prove me wrong RE.

Re: Royal Enfield to make 1000cc monsters?

Well if this is true RE maybe joking! RE is not only lagging production wise but also thier is a serious issue with ASC, finding a skilled mech has become a big challenge and to top it all niggling issues.

If RE is thinking about bigger engines first they should solve the existing issues!

Re: Royal Enfield to make 1000cc monsters?

I think it will be safe to assume that it will be the cheapest 1000 cc you can buy here in India.

Riding it will be a different story completely, but enthusiasts will love to own it for sure. And why not ? We see people owning 500cc Enfield Classic just to go around the corner and show off their 500 badge, dont we ?

Absolutely.
This is 2011 and they still manage to produce internal combustion engines that leak oil.
And they can not even get basic fuel injection to work.

Re: Royal Enfield to make 1000cc monsters?

RE is not able to cope up with the current demand for 350s and 500s.
RE cannot supply Exide batteries for it's current 500s.
RE cannot fix the self-start bearing issue with 500s.

Is RE serious about bringing 750s and 1000s ? I wonder who would but them !!

Re: Royal Enfield to make 1000cc monsters?

1000cc but only 35 bhp at wheel.
That is what I expect from RE.

see the trend (BHP per CC just keeps going down):
350 cc - 18 bhp
500 cc - 22 bhp
1000 cc - 35 bhp

And of course, as Spitfire says - lets not bring the handling part in yet.

And one more thing which just came to my mind after checking that rediff link:
Why do ppl think that banning vehicles that consume more fuel is going to solve their problem of LIMITED FOSSIL FUEL resources.

By using vehicles that consume less fuel, you are ONLY DELAYING the problem, not solving.
In fact the faster crude oil gets consumed, the faster we will have newer alternative technologies and fuel.
And it will make commercial sense also (since everything today needs a capitalist justification)

Re: Royal Enfield to make 1000cc monsters?

OT:
Whether they produce 1000cc or not, RE has been sleepin for a lonnnng time thinkin no one is gonna beat them...
The rumor has it that, H-D is gonna come up with a sub 750cc M/C just for Indian market & workin on it...
If this holds true, the day is not too far when H-D would beat RE in their own game...
