With such a long list of options, are you suggesting or confusing me? lol:
I did check a few of the links above, the previous tank pad which i had was of the same type. The problem with these is that they are not wide, so the surrounding area gets dull. And since my bike is black, it is very noticeable. The only reason I have got the tank pad which i'm using currently is that it covers the entire area likely to get dull.

I would love to have a better looking tank pad as well, and without that stupid racing embossed on it.:Frustrati

You want to try putting up a layer of PPF? that might need constant replacing though as the film is thin and bound to give up over a period of time.

That's a sexy idea, just google'd and saw a few samples.
I will check what can be done with this in mind.:thumbs up

That's a million dollar question with me as well, whether to go in for Tank Pads or do some PPF Jobs where you retain the best of aesthetic looks without actually marring it. Having a white bike, might tilt more towards PPF eventually.

That is exactly what I am thinking of as well.

What do you think of the PPF layer which ku69rd has suggested? I'm pretty sold out on this idea but do not know where i can get it done in Mumbai.

Lol. To be honest, in hindsight, i wish i had bought a clear tank pad for my ninja. :)

Want something better than PPF for the tank area? especially the sides where you grip it with your knees?

Well, I had seen some similar stuff to this Stomp design.
The issue is that these are model specific and I have not heard anybody applying such a thing on a R15 yet.
+ I never heard about that product for the R15 1.0 yet, so for the 2.0 I might have to wait till eternity.

Indian jugaad should help you fix it on your bike buddie. Pair of scissors, steady hands should be able to fix it up:)

Thank you for the suggestions guys, now rather than commenting on what i like and don't - next weekend i shall hunt for a few tank pads / grips similar to this and keep the thread updated. Right now i'm not sure of what I might end up buying.

Cleaning my LS2 Celtic (air-pump) Helmet: A pictorial guide!

Clean the upper surface of the helmet with a moist cloth. (Not wet with water dripping)


Take out each of the detachable pieces carefully.


Wash and rinse it with water, and then with very little detergent - wash it in the washing machine if you wish to.

The red piece which is screwed on (not the press buttons) has a hole if you notice. This is where the air is pumped into in the cheek / side pads.

Wind deflector for the nose. Notice that it does not have holes in the center to avoid dust entering you nostrils.


Check our the 3 mount points for the wind deflector. My earlier LS2 Dragon did not have this. I had to play around pushing the fibre ends so that it fit in properly.

The reflector which is very essential during long rides. Believe me, a friend of mine has the same helmet and this reflector does its job very well in bad light conditions. Very visible due to the High / Low beam of the following vehicle / bike.


Fitting it back. This is the most time consuming part of the cleaning process. When you fix the side pads, make sure you start from the rear end - this will help you because the rear reflector piece will have pressure marks which give you the exact position for the pads to be placed in. Then insert the air pump tube perfectly in the hole and lock the press buttons.


After you are done with that, clean it again with a moist cloth.








Pack it in the LS2 bag, and you are done.

When i got the helmet even i thought that this was just another stupid marketing trick to attract buyers who fancy features over safety. I got the helmet mainly because my earlier helmet got scratched and i wanted a new one.
Coming to your question - yes it does work. Even i was surprised how effective it is. After you have pumped a decent amount of air in the cheek pads, as soon as you press the release button you can literally hear the air coming out. Well for me it is not that significant since i have a little cheeky face so the fit is already perfect. But for those who have long faces and who are a little less with cheeks, this feature will help them to get the helmet fit them right - and only when the helmet does not move around or wobble on your face is when the actual purpose of the helmet is served. For a noticeable difference, minimum 3-4 pumps are required.
