You're right, I didn't post on the rings & YEIS as I had my own doubts. RVM were always Black Alfa Toyo from my observation

Who? Mr. Ila? I can remove the parts & hand over to him; I primarily need the spokes, rear chrome mudguard, grab rail & the exhaust bend pipe. Rest bolt nuts, if I'm able to get it, well & good, otherwise no issues changing them every 4-5 years or so.

Any specific reason? Or something bigger and better is on the way?
.
You have an eye for detail Boss I never realised the black ring and YEIS stickers are missing. will get them added on the weekend. Do you have a pis of the original chain guard? The mirror's yes - So the chrome mirrors I ordered were both sent for the RHS. So the old mirrors were titled on the LHS.

Will post day time pics tomorrow.

The black ring is missing, but there's a plain black sticker on the crankcase & you've it as YEIS. The Rx100 came with black plain sticker & Rx135 had YEIS on it

The original one had the inspection window on the top; from my experience it's extremely difficult to source the original chain guard.

Here you go...

And you could be missing a fuel filter + neutral rubber cover as well

re: Yamaha RX100: Retro-Modern modifications (back to stock)

1. Oil tank with needle guage
2. All black, Alfo Toyo mirrors
3. Front 2.50 X 18 & 2.75 X 18 rear tires
4. Gabriel rear suspensions
5. Dust cover on the front suspensions
6. Black ring & black stripe at both sides of the engine case covering
7. Neutral rubber cap cover
8. Fuel filter
9. Black fins on the engine cylinder
10. OE chain guard
11. The front brake wire to be passed over the secondary rubber channel on the front fenner

Last but not the least, we don't know what beholds on the other side

IMHO there're 2 important notes to be taken note here...
1. It's near to impossible obtaining items 1, 7, 8 & 10
2. It's better to enjoy the 90% of the ride rather than sweating to make it 100% perfect

After having gone out of production for nearly 25 years, if one still has a Rx100 still riding, it's absolutely great. If it looks good, then the bike is damn lucky to have a great owner. I would say, it looks great & I'm sure it rides great, enjoy the times on the saddle!!

Sir, as promised, here's the rim from HH that has not rusted for 1.5 decades or so. I have not even wiped the wheels to show the power of zinc coating. The spokes, front mudguard are Yamaha OE that have been replaced between 2010 Dec to 2011 Sep

re: Yamaha RX100: Retro-Modern modifications (back to stock)

The Suzuki Access replaced the RX100 as my office commuter since it is very practical. The Xpulse replaced the Access as my office commuter since it is very comfortable. But seriously, nothing beats the RX in terms of the happiness that you feel when you ride it. It takes me back to those college and extra classes days when I used to commute on my RX-Z.

There is a different sort of attachment I now have with the RX that i never had in the last 5 years. The modifications that i had done back then to make the ride more comfortable - eventually i realised it wasn't (like they say it was just "moh maaya"). I never once felt i was riding an RX100.

But today when I ride it, it gives me immense pride, satisfaction and happiness from the time I kick start her till i reach my destination. And I really want to thank all of you who suggested me against going for a retro mod (another "moh maaya") with the Pulsar 200 parts. I am really glad that i followed your suggestions. Thank you ku69rd, nitro.1000bhp, pramodkumar, Mr.Boss, aargee!!

Anyways , it's now been almost 6 months since i last posted an update. The RX is doing just fine - it's not a daily commute and i intend to keep it that way and use it occasionally (2-3 times a week) to work. You won't believe, i haven't washed the RX since the time it got restored - mainly for fear of the chrome and other parts rusting. Most of the stuff is original and won't rust, but I still don't want to take the risk. I just dust it off with a damp cloth, thats it.

The other update is that last month or so, I noticed a lot of oil leaking from the bike (kind of marking it's territory). Got it checked and the culprit was a failed oil pump - which has now been disconnected. So it's now back to the old days of mixing oil and petrol in the fuel tank.

Next is the horn which needs to be fixed - it's very weak and i believe its connected to the Dynamo instead of the battery.

The bend pipe and exhaust need to be chrome plated - these are the only 2 things that stick out like a sore thumb on the RX. I know this would be a stupid question - but will a RXZ 4 Speed exhaust fit the RX100? If so, are they available?

The last modification that I am planning now is an RD handlebar. I have used it previously on my RXZ and the Eliminator and found them to be very comfortable.

Nothing much planned as of now - but here are some recent pics of the RX.

If you don't turn and look back at your motorcycle after you have parked it, you have done the wrong modifications. Everytime I park the RX100 I look back at it with a smile.

Horn is connected to the battery line (unless the wiring harness is custom made)
Bench test the horn by hooking to the battery (or any other 12V source) to check if it works properly.

re: Yamaha RX100: Retro-Modern modifications (back to stock)

Happy Diwali to all. The weekend was well spent. With the rains gone, it was time to get the RX and the Classic out of hibernation. They had been stored away during the monsoons since there is a lot to get rusted in both the bikes.

The Classic had to be taken to the RE ASC for its scheduled polishing / buffing. The RX had to be taken home for a good wash and polish. There were other small mods that i had planned too.

- Change the current handlebar to an RD handlebar
- Change the grips
- Change the number plates
- I had an extra silencer which was locally sourced, so fitted that. Also came across an original silencer from a Japanese RX which was recently scrapped (the condition is a bit bad, but need to fix it and rechrome it)

Re: Yamaha RX100: Retro-Modern modifications (back to stock)

This is such a lovely motorcycle. I had one between 1986-2002.Sadly gave it away. I still regret that decision. You have maintained the bikevso well.

Lovely bike, looks great! So much nicer than current bikes which often look like props from StarWars.

Re: Yamaha RX100: Retro-Modern modifications (back to stock)

Your bike looks great after a wash and wax. Are the drum brakes reliable?
In mumbai, very difficult to get an empty stretch of road for some spirited riding.
