Logically, yes, the BMW G310R should be priced lower. But will BMW actually price it lower than the Apache 310?: |
I dont think BMW will price this bike below 4 lakhs (i.e. Below Ninja 300). They will never get permission from headquarters to position themselves in the affordable category which will compromise their overall brand value.
yup, it will be priced in tune to Ninja 400/R3, maybe few thousands extra too. Happy to be proven wrong.

That is a great way to price! We will be remembered of another Suzuki Inazuma.

Ha ha for sure, but then i am not sure how aggressive BMW will anyway go with all the aura they carry around the brand in India. They definitely are in catch 22 situation.

Just enquired with Logesh Auto Chennai. Bikes haven't reached yet, the guy told 2 more days.

Ya Same here, guy said that the bikes will hopefully come by weekend, but then 25th is holiday, and being a new bike it might not get registered in one day. So guess any hope of test drive even here is not happening till end of next week.

They are waiting for the RE twins to ensure a honest fight.. lol:
TVS has given a great product in the Apache RR310.(Except that ugly large windscreen though)
What pisses me off is their "phased" launch. How many TVS dealers do they have in major 200 cities all our country? 300-350? Is manufacturing and shipping 1000-1500 units(5/dealer) a big deal?
Apache RR310 may be TVS's flagship product but it isn't a premium product in the segment. In fact, Apache RR fights with the lower tier of the segment with Mojo 300, D400, D390 and RC390.
When KTM can come up with dealers all across the country, at all tier II cities in 2012, why isn't tvs even launching their 310 at all tier II cities?
I have been able to convince a couple of my friends to wait for the Apache 310RR. They were after Duke 250 and RC200. Apache looks like a definite better product and it will outperform both the above bikes. But unavailability of clear answers to availability and Test ride details here at Trichy dealer is quite disappointing.
Bajaj did the same stupidity with Dominar 400. Somehow I don't see many dominars in my city. People lose interest when a product is launched but does not reach dealers in time.
Dominar 400s and Apache RR 310s, ain't no superleggeras! :Frustrati

What is even worst is phased launch of the phase launch. Even the dealers who are supposed to sell the product are not in sync.
The soft launch of apache was one of the best launch of an Indian motorcycle in recent times, but as you clearly said people lose interest as quickly as they gain it.
Hopefully they stick to the promise of next week of test drive and Jan second week delivery, or I will start getting doubtful of my booking.
That is primarily because Bajaj & TVS can't accept that they can actually sell the Dominar & Apache RR-310. I have ridden the Dominar, the best bike to come out from Bajaj stable, I am sure, the Apache RR310 would be good too. It is these manufacturers and their MBA guys who come up with these weird ideas and then God bless the man who confirms this & asks to execute these [weird & utterly stupid] ideas.
