Re: Hero MotoCorp unveils the Xtreme 200S

Seriously, this one came out of nowhere. And it doesn't look that bad. Doesn't offend me but doesn't make me drool over either. I think the front looks a kinda like Harley's upcoming adventure tourer from the front. Flat, rectangular, LED headlight and all.

Looks like a decent package. Should sell well given the aggressive price tag.

Now that Hero has 5 premium motorcycles (200, 200T, 200R, 200S, Karizma), I think it's time to do Nexa.

Re: Hero MotoCorp unveils the Xtreme 200S

While the looks are polarising, I for one feel it growing upon me. The lines are clean, and it is refreshing to see a bike that does not have an angry expression on its face. The RC, Ninja, new CBR250, R3, all feel like they're out to avenge their first born. This one however looks like it's bored of filling it's taxes.

Also, this is neither the worst design the Indian market has seen, nor is the worst design HMC has put up. The current generation Karizma takes both those prizes IMO. So, yea, I'll give the 200s a thumbs up for now, till it actually proves itself on the road.

Re: Hero MotoCorp unveils the Xtreme 200S

I know by now we all have almost got into a habit of making fun of Hero, slamming their design team for giving us the beautiful bikes like the next gen Karizma, etc.

But, I still feel this bike will sell well, this can be a great commuter bike with upright riding position and good amount of power on tap.
Not to miss the bells and whistles most modern bikes come with: ABS, Digital Instrument cluster, LED Headlamps etc

Once again, it isn't all that bad and I strongly believe this and the Xpulse 200 will turn things around for Hero Motor Corp.

Re: Hero MotoCorp unveils the Xtreme 200S

A lot of it's success will depend on the pricing. If priced competitively, the sales numbers will pick up and the looks will grow on the owner and the on-looker. It won't be able to make it to the top 100 if hero banks too much on it's neaness to Honda and prices it closer to the CBR 250.

Re: Hero MotoCorp unveils the Xtreme 200S

Looks are subjective , But I guess Extreme 200S is a decent looking bike especially when we consider the previous offerings from hero. It is definitely not an awful looking bike. Price wise it will be pitted against the Gixxer SF and Fazer v3 or thereabout (hopefully) and it looks better than Fazer from all angles

Re: Hero MotoCorp unveils the Xtreme 200S

I think this is a good looking motorcycle, the design looks clean and proportionate from every angle. Possibly the best looking motorcycle from Hero after the Hero Honda days. Surprising to see just one small sticker on the fairing considering Hero MotoCorp's usual way of going berserk with stickers. I test rode my colleague's Xtreme 200R some time back and felt it to be a size larger than the Gixxer and Fazer so it should be comfortable for tall and well built rider and pillion. With such a competitive price tag, buyers looking for a faired motorcycle at the 1Lac bracket should seriously consider the Xtreme 200S.

Re: Hero MotoCorp unveils the Xtreme 200S

After several attempts at designing a fully faired bike, Hero seems to have finally cracked the design.
In this red shade, this looks tasteful, it is simple yet desirable and unique.
Yes, an RR310 looks better, but that comes with additional cost.

Re: Hero MotoCorp unveils the Xtreme 200S

Looks like a worthy successor to the Karizma R Model.

Also the pricing is drool worthy in todays world!

Re: Hero MotoCorp unveils the Xtreme 200S

What a horrible looking bike ! Hero still hasnt learnt anything except doing a sticker job - dont think this is going to sell against Fazer / Gixxer and even Pulsar.

Re: Hero MotoCorp unveils the Xtreme 200S

Personally I have been looking for a decent looking bike with upright riding position, comfortable seats and suspension . I wonder if this is the bike I am looking for.

I watched some YouTube reviews of the Xtreme 200R and the reviewer mentioned that the bike struggles to touch the 100 mark. This is not a problem for me, but I wonder if Hero's technology is way behind the others as the other 150cc/ 160 cc bikes seem to hit the 100 mark quite easily.
Also this bike does not seem to have a fuel injected option.

Re: Hero MotoCorp unveils the Xtreme 200S

Doesn't look bad to me. My first thought when I saw this is "Karizma", and I guess I wasn't the only one.
I wish they would up the displacement though. 200cc is so yesterday. This would've been great in 2011 or so.

Re: Hero MotoCorp unveils the Xtreme 200S

I feel it is important to look at the Xtreme 200S in the context of the pricing against its rivals. Ive used Overdrive to pick the ex showroom pricing of some other motorcycles in its class
- Yamaha FZ 25 (non ABS) : Rs 95,680
- TVS Apache RTR 200 (non FI / no ABS) : Rs 97,340
- TVS Apache RTR 200 (FI / no ABS) : Rs 1,10,040
- TVS Apache RTR 200 (FI / ABS) : Rs 1,11,280
- Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 (ABS) : Rs 1,10,000
- Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 (ABS) : Rs 1,27,482

Yes, the Xtreme 200S feels more 160cc-ish than 200cc-ish but for regular consumers that probably doesnt matter. If you see its Rs 98,500 ex showroom price, it falls in a very nice slot in the market alongside the base RTR 200 (that doesnt get ABS) while being more expensive than the FZ25 which again doesnt get ABS. The comfortable looking seat and upright handlebars along with the full fairing of the Xtreme 200S are bound to draw a lot of interest. What other bike do you have in its segment with similar big bike looks besides the cheaper Suzuki Gixxer 150 SF and the more expensive (by over 25%!) Pulsar RS200.

In a budget conscious market where sales are down all around the board for the last few quarters, Hero might just have played their pricing cards very smartly indeed! I only wish they called it the Karizma instead and played off its past heritage.

If that was true - Xtreme 200 would have set the sales charts on fire by now. I dont think Indian regular consumer is so ignorant about performance now - especially someone who is paying extra from the 100-125cc commuter class. I am sure most would check out Youtube reviews etc before making a decision

A 300cc is apparently under development for launch with the karizma name plate in 2020, which we know is really 2021 in heros calendar.

This is the engine schumi hinted at which might also make its way into the xpulse.

I think BS6 has slowed down an already very slow development schedule for hero.
