Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 vs KTM 250 Duke

Completed 15000 kms in 6 months. Loving the bike absolutely. The only issue faced where the crash gaurd bolt getting cut inside its hole. This happened once on the left side and once on the right side. This is a known issue with the 2019 dominar. These bolts were replaced under warranty. No issues since their replacement. Average fuel efficiency is about 30 to 31.

Did they replace the existing ones with SS bolts. YouTube has a lot of videos of owners complaining about the bolts shearing off after replacement.

Wow that's some serious mileage to clock in such a short period of time especially on Kerala Roads.

Kudos!

BTW, I've noticed that one of the buttons on your mini display seems to have partially popped out, do push the outer lip back inside so that it can maintain a proper seal.

Regards,
A.P.

One of the bolts were replaced with stainless steel one. Second one was replaced with a similar looking bolt. When the second one was replaced they drilled and made the bolt hole in the crash guard a little bigger. They are telling that this will reduce chance of bolts getting cut.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 vs KTM 250 Duke

Completed 20000 kms. There were no issues between 15000 to 20000 kms apart from a broken gear lever, which was replaced under warranty. I am attaching the screenshot of service costs from Bajaj App. 500 Kms , 5000 Kms and 10000 Kms service are free services with no labour charges. I didn't have to pay labour charge for 15000 and 20000 service as I got an annual mainetance contract of 3 services free with my bike purchase. The labour charge would be about 700 Rs for paid service if there is no AMC.I am running on my stock chain and sprocket. The breakpads, front and rear were changed at 17000 kms. It came to about 2100 Rs total which is shown as 8th feb paid service in the screenshot. The rear tyre was changed to Michelin pilot street in the stock size of 150/60 R16 at 20000 Kms. Got it for a discounted prize of 5400 Rs. So tyre cost is the only thing that is not shown in the screenshots. Front tyre has got a little more thread left. The Michelin has got a road noise which was absent on the stock MRF Revz C1 tyre. Initially I found it annoying but I am getting used to it after a few hundred kms
However the Michelin is said to have a better grip.

Reached 30000 kms in july. Its been two years since the purchase.Happy with the bike. Only issue was an abnormal noise from the engine head, which was replaced under warranty at 25000 kms. Still running on stock chain and sprocket. Replaced battery at 28000 kms.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 vs KTM 250 Duke

Odo is at 54000 kms. The bike is going fine. The starter coil was replaced under warranty. Changed front tyres to Apollo tramplers for a change. Changed the panniers to metal 21 litres from Konnen. The price of the panniers was 9750 including mount for the pair. A budget metal pannier option.

With that kind of weight, you'll probably feel some sort of imbalance that will moreso be more pronounced while cornering. I think its better you mount both the panniers and balance the weight equally

I dont feel any imbalance while riding. But will it cause uneven wear of the tyre.
