re: TVS in talks with Norton for an acquisition. EDIT: Confirmed!

Here’s more information on what is next in the Norton deal.

https://www.cycleworld.com/story/mot...rce=googlenews

I really do wish TVS rescues the brand and IP and launches those beautiful Atlas twins in 650 guise from their factory in India. What a treat!

re: TVS in talks with Norton for an acquisition. EDIT: Confirmed!

Commenting on the acquisition, Mr Sudarshan Venu, Joint Managing Director, TVS Motor Company said, “This is a momentous time for us at TVS Motor Company. Norton is an iconic British brand celebrated across the world and presents us with an immense opportunity to scale globally. This transaction is in line with our effort to cater to the aspirations of discerning motorcycle customers. We will extend our full support for Norton to regain its full glory in the international motorcycle landscape."
He added, “Norton will continue to retain its distinctive identity with dedicated and specific business plans. TVS Motor will work closely with customers and employees in building the success and pre-eminence of the Norton Motorcycles brand and we
look forward to growing together globally in the years to come.”

— A relevant Handshake, knowing a 350cc Bunny Rabbit will be out of the hat for TVS through this deal anytime soon now, then next come a mid sized Parallel Twin mill and Bam! TVS is the next best Alternative for a RE. +++ for the Built Quality of TVS which has been decent through-out their product line..
Good Acquisition IMO

What about all the pension scam that the ceo was involved in? Will that come as trojan horse?

Its not acquired as a going concern with the debts and liabilities. Entire business is split up and only the IP, brand, and a few other things worth selling was sold to TVS. The money will then be used to pay off all the debts and criminal proceedings will be taken against the previous owner to get the rest.

That is good news. Coming at a time with all this negativity in the auto segment and also economy in general.

If that's the agreement then its very well negotiated. TVS was always interested in the 350-500cc pie that is dominated by RE. Now they have a viable product.

This is why I love Team-bhp.

When I saw the article on a motoring website I was like this is good news.

After reading the Norton problems I know we are not going to see anything useful from this takeover for years if at all.

TVS has acquired just the IP, brand and a few other things. Which means TVS gets going with customer delivery of booked bikes almost immediately. Venu Srinivasan has already confirmed this and will be delivering on all customer bikes from the Norton facility.

Nortons prior problems are NOT a part of this deal.

Re: TVS in talks with Norton for an acquisition. EDIT: Confirmed!

Good news, although I'm still a bit apprehensive regarding Norton's problems and the timing of the acquisition just before a global recession!

Hope to see a slow resurrection of the brand under TVS. It is great when Indian companies get to acquire British brands, last time was TATA and JLR. Britain's investment minister said this -

"A huge congratulations to TVS Motor on this acquisition. As we fight coronavirus around the world, it is great to see business resilience, the preservation of jobs, and continued support for our highly skilled British engineers. It’s fantastic news that this British motorcycle company can carry on producing their world-class motorcycles with its headquarters in the UK."

As per MCN, TVS gets to retain the existing manufacturing facility for six months only.

Plenty of time for TVS to move all the manufacturing to India and just keep a Norton design Center in the UK

Re: TVS in talks with Norton for an acquisition. EDIT: Confirmed!

They seem to have sold the 961 engine platform to a Chinese firm as per MCN. Wonder if that means TVS will have to license from the Chinese or develop on their own? Does not seem attractive because the Chinese could hold them to ransom if that is the case. If they are serious about it, I don’t expect any numbers or bikes of significance before 2024. Developing a new engine platform will definitely not be cheap or quick. Plus they will have to poach and significantly grow their engineering staff.

Re: TVS in talks with Norton for an acquisition. EDIT: Confirmed!

TVS Motor company has acquired Norton Motorcycles for Rs.153.12 Cr.

I am sure they have done their due diligence.
