Time is of the essence here as this is one of those now-or-newer situations, more to be divulged later on.

Congratulations for your new motorcycle! I am glad that you have chosen the Bullet. It's torquey, comfy and surprisingly frugal too. ( my own experience says that an easy 35-45 kmpl can be expected if ridden well).

Honestly, the number of folks I know, who own both the bullet and bolero is way too high, to be dismissed away as a co-incidence.... (Yes, I am in that list too....)

Me too; a Bolero DI and an Electra 350 (now sold) and replaced with a Himalyan

Once you experience the beauty of low end torque and its real world benefits - top end power is just an impressive number in a brochure with very low real world utility

Amidst increasing fuel price rants let me flex a bit!

Dang Missed the 50kmpl mark by a whisker!

She stands at over 3.5k on the odo, that's in 9 months! Have to sum up total annual mileage of all motorcycles and see if it's under 10k if so I guess I've gracefully slid into retirement.

Had the oil changed from Castrol to Shell as the latter was cheaper due to Amazon Discounts.

Now off I go!

My only point of reference for a Bullet's mileage before I bought my bike, was a friend's 2003 Electra. Needless to say, I was really surprised when I got about 40 Km/L during my first ride to Nagarjuna Sagar and Srisailam.

I've been using Shell's 15W50 advanced ultra for almost 3 years now. I always stock up when it is for sale on Amazon. Much cheaper than most other fully synthetic oils and the bike seems to love it as long as I stick to a 4 month/4000KM oil change interval.

My CBR250R and P220 returns 25~30 kmpl, my CT100 returns 35~40kmpl.

Which would give you an idea of my riding style, hence I was pleasantly surprised when the Bullet started returning close to 50kmpl.

However I have observed the bend~pipe showing a tendency to turn gold at times, which clearly explains the higher FE the motorcycles been returning.

Might be the motorcycle but I found no difference between Shell and Castrol, whereas when used in say my CT100, Shell feels restrictive whereas Castrol lets the motorcycle rev all the way up to its limiter with the least bit of effort.

That said as long as the prices are in check I'm good. I'm going to keep a 3k interval which I know is kinda overkill but then it gives me peace of mind, plus my riding is quite low now so at least 2 oil changes a year is warranted.
