Which motorcycle? I have 24 hours to choose. Edit: Bought RE Bullet 350

Not gonna bore you with a long post(Which I sure am reserving for later, thought you'd get off that easy huh? ), so here goes.

Help me Choose between the following;

Bullet 350
Himalayan 410
Interceptor 650

Priorities:
1. Pillion Comfort
2. Heirloom Material

I have my mind kinda made up but since I'm saying "kinda" and being bikers you know the drill!

Which motorcycle? I have 24 hours to choose. Edit: Bought RE Bullet 350-biker-confuse.jpg

Time is of the essence here as this is one of those now-or-newer situations, more to be divulged later on.

Regards,
A.P.

For a rider like you (who is content with Ct100 capabilities, likes to tinker with machine and is more of DIY guy and goes off road to explore trails), it's a no brainer.

The H suits you to the T.

I'm guessing it's for you, and since you're in the "fill it, shut it, forget it" category, I'd choose the Himalayan.

Also because of the pillion comfort being the primary want. Bullet/Classic pillion seats get uncomfortable after a while.

I'm 'guessing' the Himalayan will be more serviceable than the Interceptor, plus it's a vastly improved product.

(Assumptions based on your posts here, apologies if it's not the case).
For someone that loves to wring the throttle as wide open as possible to get the maximum out of its motor, the Himalayan would be suitable, pillion comfort being a given.

If I was to select between the 3, I would factor in the height of my regular pillion. About 5ft 4in or less and Interceptor 650 would be a done deal. Else the Himalayan, lastly the 350 (especially given that it's due for a non-cosmetic "upgrade").

If you've made up your mind though, you can only go wrong in the eyes of others, not your own not that it matters anyway.

Bullet 350 (or 500). The most comfortable Enfield ever. There isn't anything in the line up that sounds as good too.

Pillion Comfort = Bullet 350.
Also, this bike will do just as much offroad as you have been doing (or not doing?) on the CT100 anyway.

The Himalayan is a wonderful machine and its Ergo touches me in ways no other motorcycle has done before, the way they've made the handlebar sit high up without actually using longer bars that induce flex is really something our shores haven't experienced before, at least in such scales.

The only concern I have with it is scoring a piece that doesn't come with the Tripper Crapper.

I've notified a few showrooms in my vicinity and they're yet to update me with their stock lists, a friend and fellow enthusiast from TVM is also reaching out to showrooms there as we've got wind that there is a stock shortage for some models due to upcoming releases.

I am uncomfortable riding pillion on the Interceptor as the seating position is inline with that of using an Indian Toilet, which I believe has to do with my 5'11 figure.

But my significant other is only about 5'4.5 so I was wondering of the possibilities of it working out.

I'm no fan of riding the motorcycle as I wasn't able to connect with it, seems like a Buffet meal that has all the bells and whistles but lacks taste. But then again it is an international offering like the Himalayan and I'd sheepishly seen videos of the same by Bennet Bikes where they compare it to the likes of the Triumph Street Twin and Kawasaki W800 which did spike my interest in the context that it would have good Heirloom value albeit it running on EFI.

Also there is the Typical Indian notion of getting the perceived best for ones budget. That is making me contemplate it, though deep down I know that it poses a higher chance of heartbreak in the future.

You're absolutely right, but the reason for contemplation is that this would most likely be my last motorcycle purchase so I thought I'd get your insights on my choices before finalizing in the hopes of avoiding regret.

500 isn't available anymore.

Though in hindsight I chanced upon a 2014 TBTS 500 owned by a fellow enthusiast who'd left the country, brilliant condition and with a shade under 50k on the odo but after the stint with the Alto I'm supposedly banned from going for a used motorcycle. Else it would've been a wonderful buy at a very reasonable price.

As for the 350, owning a pushrod has been a long time dream and the case with the seat does sway in its favor but now I'm a bit skeptical as ManasN95 mentioned that the seat does get uncomfortable after a while, have experienced the same with the Classic's pillion seat but not so much with the Electra's, presuming its the same that the Current B350's come with.

A few points I've noted is that in the BS6 Iteration other than the addition of EFI, RE has dropped a plug on the 350's its no more TwinSpark.

Also there is a variant called Bullet X, it has a KS only option but they're unable to confirm on the Crank Weight, as there is a lack of clarity whether all KS Bullet's come with 10KG cranks or only a selected few do.

I do not have the mental capacity to own another short stroke. Wonderful value KTM offers(with the D390, ADV Doesn't make sense to me) but I am totally fed up with screamers and would love to get a thumper, cause with the CT100 I can at least wring its neck and have some fun but on bigger capacity bikes I'd be spending the remainder of my youth shifting between 2~3/3~4 Gears Courtesy KL Road Conditions.

Even my P220 rarely sees the 5th cog when ridden here.

For the kind of tinkering and DIY you like to do with your steed and not to mention the offbeat path that you ride on , Himalayan all the way.

Can you elaborate why you prefer the H without the tripper navigation? IMO, if you do not use it, it should not bother you by its presence on the console, right?
In the rare occasions you want the navigation, you can use.

That's too short a response given what I was hoping for AP!
I know you have been looking for a Thumper for long, and there's a nice one not too far from the budget you are looking at.

Sir! Go for the Interceptor and you wouldn't regret it.

We had been tripping on a Thunderbird for last decade and were very very nervous about Interceptor, given the foot peg positioning - both for rider and pillion. My partner at 5'6" seems to be getting comfortable now. Planning for a weekender in March to test the ergonomics.

But so far, I'm already feeling home with my Ravishing Red lady!

1. Himalayan BS6 onward, tall bike, better suspension and great pillion comfort

2. Bullet 350 in BS3 disguise after that the UCE bikes were just emission control devices. The base bike is very good and a blank canvas to adapt to your needs. It's a very simple machine for your DIY skills.

Mods, pleas add a polling option to this post.

Hi Ashwin,

May I entice you with a pre-owned option, right from our classifieds :

https://classifieds.team-bhp.com/buy...nneville.html/

Pillion Comfort - *check*

Heirloom Material - *double check*

I know it's a big jump up from the bikes you're looking at, but I really feel that a Street Twin would suit your requirements quite well. If you can find a well-maintained example at a price that works for you, you've got a winner.

Cheers!

Ashwin, the 2021 Himalayan specifically for the points you mention. Ignore the tripper navigation module

When I took a test ride of the earlier model the ride comfort was fantastic. Please read Kartik’s ownership review if you haven’t already, it may convince you to go for it.

All the best!

Cheers

re: Which motorcycle? I have 24 hours to choose. Edit: Bought RE Bullet 350

@AP : So you finally decided to get your self a new bike. I fully understand, its an itch that needs to be scratched. Not going into the "What happened to the chetak?" question, that i leave to you. Now that you are nearing the 4 bike garage (correct me if wrong, CT100, P220, Chetak and now one of these three), you would be hard pressed for time to keep all of them going (trust me on this). So chose one which goes easy on the pockets while it gives you some riding thrill.

I am however a bit disappointed that you are confining your search only to the RE stable. If I may, I suggest you explore the seconds market for something more exotic. If that's not possible the only rational way which works all the time is :

' INKIE PINKY PONKY
FATHER HAD A DONKEY
..
