For the ones who have got their motorcycle, how has your experience been in this regard? Also, with all the rush / excitement of owning a new machine, how do you see out the waiting period? :coldsweat

Congratulations!
I had booked my SM on April 30th. I was told waiting time of 3 months at the dealership while the app showed almost 5 months (Oct’6). I checked with the dealership last week and I was told that I am 2nd on the list.

Thanks! Hope you get yours in August!

For me, the App shows a waiting time of 6.5 months, while the salesperson quoted around 4 months.

Hopefully RE improves dispatches around the festive period!

My 2nd free service was scheduled today (6 months from purchase). Current ODO is 2.5k with mostly city runs. Service cost was Rs. 288 for chain cleaning and greasing - while the service included air filter cleaning, chain tightening, cables check, brake oil check, brake pads inspection and cleaning etc.

During the service, I asked technician to be careful with pressure wash as during the 1st service, I had trouble with acceleration, engine misfiring after the wash - engine error light lighting up immediately. Team did a thorough job to clear the error - however could not explain the reason for issue. This time, technician immediately mentioned that RE had issued a recall for SM650 for replacing suppressor caps (spark plug caps). He opened it up and showed me white powder deposited on spark plug due to possible water leakage through the caps. He mentioned that this prevents spark plugs from working efficiently. Had it replaced with a newer waterproof version under warranty. Suggest fellow riders to immediately avail the replacement. Post service, felt downshift are smoother and braking performance better.

Technician also mentioned that rear brake pads may last another 1k - which seemed awfully short time for replacement. He seemed to indicate that is normal service interval for brake pads - unsure though. Any advice from fellow riders?

My bike mileage is also consistently 21 kmpl - calculated using tank-full method. Every tank-full is about 12 lts and I get ~250 kms run before needing to fill again. Technician mentioned that it is decent mileage and most people are getting average of 18 kmpl. No concerns with 21 kmpl - just wanting to check others numbers - please share.

Hi guys, So this is my first post.

I just got my delivery on 1st September 23.

On morning of 2nd Sep. I found there is a noise when i spin the rear wheel on keeping my bike on center stand. Went to the service station same day, the service guy said all bikes makes same noise as it rubs with break pads. Do all of you have same noise when spinning wheel? The service guy showed me another Super meteor as well as classic reborn which also had same noise. So i had no argument but to agree with the statement.

So when i read this post about break pad change in 2nd service, may be that could be the reason that they had kept it such a way or is it normal? If you guys can also confirm that all of your super meteors have same noise when spinning rear wheel, that will be great. I have used thunderbird 350x for last 5 years, but i am not sure i had heard noise like that.

I will post detailed review of my super meteor as soon as i do some rides and first service gets done. Thank you all.

No such noise from my bike now or after taking delivery in March 23 (I was particularly observant as mine was from the initial batches - was concerned about niggles/issues). Suggest to observe the noise after few 100 kms run.

Are you sure? I mean did you tried putting it on center stand and turned the rear wheel and that sounded nothing? Because i have seen it in another Super meteor which was under service, Classic & meteor 350. All had same noise when spinning wheel. So that's why i had to agree that its normal.

May be if other owners can share some views on this, that will help.

I did that after reading your post - no perceptible sound. Hence requested to check after some run-in. When I received my bike, I did not try the same procedure. I do park my bike by reversing it (with engine switched off) - never observed any sound since beginning.

I have a super meteor 650 and since day 1, I have same sound on my bike ,also noted the same as well on other bikes such as meteor 350 bs6 in showroom.

The reason of the same is due to "tighter clearance between brake pad and disc plate" and "slight negligible undulations of the disc plate" that rub against the disc pads.

Thank you for confirming, so did you asked the service guys if its normal or not? did you get your 1st service done?

Though it's undoubtedly a heavy bike, the OEM brake pads should last longer.
It's a fact that if the usage is more on dusty/sandy roads or on wet roads or in rainy season, the life of rear brake pads reduce and may last just about 1500-2000 kms.

The Interceptor is around 202 kgs whereas the Supermeteor is around 241 kgs, almost 40 kgs more.
Both bikes have exactly the same engine. The Interceptor gives a real world mileage of around 23 Kmpl. Hence, it is normal for the heavier SM650 to deliver around 18-21 Kmpl.

The squeaking sound from the disc is normal especially in new bikes. It takes some time for the new brake pads to get set with the disc clearance. Thereafter the squeaking sound reduces a lot. Nothing to worry about it.

A Youtuber who completed 10k on SM650 claims that back issues are more due to bad seat than the suspension setup.

Was wondering if any of the owners can confirm this finding...

Here is the video.

I rode the bike on stock seat for 3 months and touring seat for 3 months with my better half accompanying me on majority of rides. The stock pillion seat is mostly decorative and not practical at all for pillions. You can at most plan for 15-20 mins trip with that seat. Touring seat with backrest is a lot better.

That said, the suspension is stiff - touring seat or not. Pillion rider can get a decent jolt on bad roads or while navigating speed breakers at moderate speeds (40-50 kmph). No complaints of backpain though on touring seat specifically - despite the stiff ride quality.

Thanks to you, I got the suppressor cap replaced today. I went to the nearby dealer to have the windshield fixed last evening. On the way back, I remembered about this post of yours and visited the service center. They mentioned to visit in the morning around 10 AM. Today I went there by 10:15AM and they replaced it within 10 minutes. I also got the bike washed and waxed as it had collected a lot of dirt. The cost was around 700 for wash and consumables.

Sorry for the crappy pic. I was in a hurry to get back and connect to a meeting.

Have been seeing a lot videos on Youtube regarding these 2 issues:

1. Chain Sprocket
2. Brake pads wearing out after 2-3k kms

Can the existing owners shed some light on this?

Posting the link here for better visibility. It's quiet expensive though. Do they manufacture these themselves?

These are mid set foot pegs that should be able to provide more comfort, especially in the longer rides. Just put it on 6th gear and cruise whilst resting your legs on these mid set foot pegs thereby taking the weight from your back.

Thank you all for sharing both the above accessories. I got them installed recently and then went on a 1500km monsoon road trip to Goa from Hyderabad. The mid set foot pegs were a big help, I even stood up on them on bad roads and rode the bike standing for short distances.

The backrest with carrier offered great back support, experienced zero back pain. I couldn't have done the ride w/o these two accessories. The backrest from Aeedea is functional but felt its not sturdy / built to last, the backrest flip screw came off a couple of times, could be difficult to build for sturdiness from its design. Hope better products (design/build) come to market in future.

Missed a windscreen on certain sections of open highway but cotton earplugs (a must on road trips) sufficed. I shall check out the meteor 350 windscreen for an upgrade.

The USB charger though placed in an odd spot does work well with a tankbag. The cable does heat up a bit and the wire shall fall apart with time as the socket isn't deep enough with room for the cable bend. The tripper navigation worked great, needs some getting used to for city intersections/roundabouts. But I much prefer this setup over a cellphone holder as immediate directions are clearly visible and no fiddling with nav app on phone is needed. The phone screen is off and nicely tucked away and getting charged in the tank bag.
