Performance Conical Filter and Sparkplugs for Pulsar 150dtsi..???

Hi guys i am not a big bike enthusiast, but i still own a Pulsar 150dtsi 2005 october model,The bike has done over 20k+ my daily running is about 60-85km withing the city(Mumbai) i have recently changed the rear tyre of my bike to a CBZ tyre and the griping has improved alot, now on the addition i wan to make my ride more smooth with retaining the current FE which i get approx. 42kmpl - 48kmpl.

I wish to mod my bike for a little performance and smoothness and was opting to install a Conical Air Filter and Spark-plugs,did any of you guys have changed the OE filter to a aftermarket performance filter for their bikes,I would also like to know whats the difference in the performance the FE and which brands do we have in Bike performance filters and where can i get it and for how much in Mumbai.

Thankyou in Advance.

Cheers..!!!

you can buy the fanciest spark plug and air filter, but the increase in performance will not match if you and/or your bike can lose some weight.

also if you change an airfilter, pls expect to change the jetting of your bike, and there goes your FE.

if you want to increase the smoothness, you can look into better & highly priced oils. like a motul synthetic specially made for bikes.

@renamo thanks for your prompt reply,I will definatel go out for hunt for these stuff you mentioned.
My main intention of modding my bike is to get smoother ride i am not looking out for any speeds as i dont drive very fast, but i need something which can change my bike sound to more silent than the DTSi engine's typical sound which i hate

hm the first person Ive heard of who dosent like the Pulsar sound......

Ok Ill attempt to answer with my rookie knowledge of bike modification....whatever I am going to say is out of my own experience

anyway, an oil change to higher quality (preferably synthetic) oil is the best way to get a smoother ride. Im sorry I cannot help you with which rating of oil to use etc etc. I don't know if you can reduce vibrations in any other way.....its one of the bad qualities of the Pulsar...... maybe you can try setting the rear suspension to its softest setting too.......

You WILL have to upjet after getting your k&n, otherwise your bike will run lean and performance might go down. Although upjetting might hurt mileage depending on riding style...... and since you don't want the noise or the big jump in response, you can try and keep the filter in your original filter box instead of removing piping etc and fitting it directly to the carb.....the famous k&n intake roar will also be subdued greatly, and your filter maintainence will be a whole lot easier too...

PS: you will have to scour around a bit to find the correct upjet size, as finding specific sizes isnt that easy, but its defenitely worth it just for finding that perfect combo.

You can move to motul3000 synth oil for better lubrication and a smoother engine.

dont bother with the filter and plug bod. If you clutch has worn out replace it.

I agree. "performance spark plugs" are a waste of time and money.....no point in replacing them.

Correct me if wrong, but CBZ also runs 100/90 tyres as the Pulsar, right?

yess true, but the grip on the tyre is different from the pulsar's original tyre,In my opinion they are better than what the company gives on the Pulsar 150.

What is the cost of 1 litre of motul3000 synthetic oil? What is the rating of the oil to be used? Something like 15W40??

forget the other brands first try the Castrol GTX 20W50(around 200 a liter) or the shell helix 20w50(around 170 a liter) then go buy the other better synthetic oils if you are still unhappy!

AFAIK, the P-150 runs on 20W40, try using Valvoline Premium 4T. its 20W40, and roughly 250 bucks a litre. I have been using it in my P-150 UG3 for quite some time now, and believe me, the engine is waay smoother and quieter.

you can use the R-1060 model K&N brand air filter its just the size for the bike.

go to K&N High Performance Air Filters, Oil Filters, & Cold Air Intakes - Official K&N Engineering Site site for the details!

Rider, synthetic oil truly works....People who have tried them even on our bikes say that there is a visible difference in the feel of the bike...

Going for Motul is a good choice...
