The Apache 180 RTR has better possibility of becoming a hit than the "new bike" from Bajaj in my opinion

Lets see, a lots of hype has been generated about this new P220.

If they price it in the 75k(sa there is no FI now) region it will sure kill a lot of competition.

Just a day to go now for the launch. I was keenly observing a similar thread on XBHP until it was duly locked by the mods because the discussion oscillated from brand-wars, to OT to what not!

Let us hope Bajaj quench the thirst of biking enthusiasts this time around!

Yes looks wise its same old P220 with Black paint job at various places. The biggest difference is the shift from FI to carb.

Also it might feature better(read stiffer) suspension setup than the earlier P220

Here's the link to the road test report by Zigwheels.

Road test Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTSi - Reviews- Zigwheels

Even if half of whatever the report has to say is true, then Bajaj definitely has done a commendable job.

Quoting from the report

0 - 60 KMPH 3.8 sec
0-100 KMPH 11.1 sec
Top speed 138.5KMPH

Hmm Frankly I see this as another marketing attempt to highlight a product downgrade which has been done to simply lower the cost of the flagship model to kill competition.

Here is the Old vs New Spec Comparison

Quote:
New 220 DTSi
Power - 21ps @ 8500 rpm
Torque - 19.12 @ 7000 rpm
Fuel Delivery - Carb - UCAL UCD 32

Quote:
Old 220 DTS-Fi
Power - 2ops @ 8500 rpm
Torque - 19.12 @ 6500 rpm
Fuel Delivery - FI

With the news doing the rounds of a Killer bike, this is no killer bike...sorry. I thought it was inevitable for Bajaj to launch the Baby ninja this time around. All bajaj did was put in a carb instead of the FI, Now we have to deal with another name P220 Carb. But the pricing of 70K is something valid and reasonable.

Sorry for going OT, the Car and Bike show on sunday confirmed that Bajaj is planning to launch the ninja in August (or post that) for 2.5l.

Anyways, unless we have some "real" test rides I really cant comment on what they would have done on the new 220.

21 PS at 70+ K really sounds very very tempting.

The only thing that puts me off on this machine is that it's a Bajaj. Had it been a Yamaha, I would have been searching my cheque book by now. This bike may turn out to be a different (read refined) product, but till I put my hands on it, I won't be willing to part with my more than a decade old RX.

I do hope that, Yamaha sits up and takes notice of this move, and then responds back in style. Now, THAT seems to be a mouth watering prospect

Well at 7ok ex-showroom i.e. roughly 78k on road, the bike would definitely be a hot buy.

With FI now gone(I believe both models will co-exist) the bike would be more easily serviceable & the goodies like Projector lamp & comfy split seat is something one cant really ignore at that price
