There is plenty of power. You need to change your driving style to access it. After 40k KM, you should be tuned to it. I guess you drive both your cars?

I haven't run into this issue on my 2016 VX petrol Jazz. I have done Hyd-Blr round trips a few time with 5 people and luggage and a/c on all the time, and haven't faced any issues. In fact on the good highway, I don't notice that I have already hit 120kmph and have to slow down to around 100 as I prefer 90-100kmph band.

It doesn't have low end grunt and that's pretty well documented.

Somethng is wrong here. The Honda website clearly mentions a cost of 5500-6200 (depending on the oil used) for the 40000km servicing. (See the link below). If only routine jobs were done, time you pull them up.

Off late I have experienced that with a full load of 5 people onboard the car is gasping. I think the puny 1.2 is the culprit here.:Frustrati

Please share the bill details here. Something seems off here.

I have driven with 4 passengers and never faced any issues. And that is with the CVT.

If you subtract the above figure from your grand total of 10,304, you’re left with 7044. Take away 295 for sanitisation and you arrive at 6749, which is very close to the estimate of 6622 (the cost of synthetic oil 2.0 varies in your bill compared to the Honda website).

In future, tell them you’ll only pay the jobs mentioned in your service manual (and any genuine wear & tear part replacements). From the 3259.98, the only benefit to your car was the fluid top ups & engine air filter + labour. All the rest were value added services (unnecessary).

From their recommendations, the only significant item I see is the battery weak comment. Ask them for the battery health report (it should be a tiny printed piece of paper). If their concern is genuine, and your battery is the factory fitted one, it’s time for a new battery unless you want use it until it runs out of all juice.

Also, I need to address the elephant in the room, but why are you performing the 24month/40,000kms service now, when you should be doing the 54month/60month service? Which periodic service interval was performed at your previous service visit?

A minor predicament. I had bought a 2015 pre owned Jazz CVT last year for my parents.

Apart from the expected low fuel efficiency which was factored, it is trouble-free. As it is mostly WFH, I drive when I have to.

While, I thought it would help them in ease of driving, on the contrary, they are sceptical with the same. My father, who is a sound driver, prefers manual. Should I trade this off for a similar vintage manual Jazz? I am relocating next year, and hence I am not sure about the usage later. His driving has reduced by half after switching. He ends up using his bike, or office transport in order to avoid the automatic. Do note, he retires soon and hence I assume he will have no option but to drive this.

Either I forcibly make him practice frequently, (to which he becomes indifferent and cites excuses), or the onus is on him to what he does to it after I leave.
I find no reason to trade this off as it is the most practical city car around. Considering the low usage, I cannot imagine any other petrol alternative nd am not in favour of a switch at this stage. Suggestions are welcome.

Ha ha ha.. Found myself in the same predicament a few years back. My parents had a deep rooted mistrust of the "auto transmission" and have excuses from mileage to driving on downslope etc etc. Don't worry, once he gets the hang of it, he'll never go back to a manual. You may accompany him on a few trips with him driving. Once he realises that it's a 'scooty' on four wheels, he'll convert. If u have the paddle shifter, it's even better, he can use them. Has anyone installed Garware Ice Cool/Ice shield/Artic cool sunfilms recently on their vehicles? What was the price for all windows and front and rear windshield?

If you installed 3M/St Gobain/Ultrakool/VKool, etc can you please share your cost too?

We have a separate thread on sunfilms, where windshield sunfilms are deprecated. These come in either rolls or kits (for side and rear glasses), and are typically model / brand agnostic. So please check that thread - and do look out for enforcement attitudes which can be very inconsistent and temperamental.

I know we have a separate thread for sunfilms, but wanted to ask Jazz owners on their experience, as not everyone might visit the upgrades forum

Well, sunfilms do foul-up the defogging system on rear glass, is what I learnt from the other thread. And the law enforcement's interpretation of the standards are rather inconsistent here in KL. So I dont have it on our V CVT.

Also, the distance on regular runs is less than 10 km per day. And for long runs on week ends, the a/c is adequate. And the law enforcement here. :-(

How long you spend on the roads in the hot sun is a factor you\'ll want to consider.

We had it on our Wagon R though. And on that car, it sunfilm did make an impact. That car is sold.

Update on my complaint to Honda on the inadequate explanation for service failure from the dealership: NO ACTION!

I mailed Honda & they forwarded it to Whitefield Honda. The Service Manager at WH, Magesh, give a "Sorry. But not our problem" answer. And Honda has dropped the matter. No response to 2 reminders.

Hey sridhu, I too completed the 2yr service from Magnum Honda, Kanakapura road and they also did not bother to change the CVT transmission oil. When asked about it, my service advisor informed that my car has run only for 10K kms, and it can wait for another year/ 10K kms for the change. I too feel, this should be alright.

:OT I notice that we share the same cars and a scooter, a Jazz CVT, 2.8 Innova Crysta and a Vespa. Looks like we are both fans of cab forward design language :) Unlike your experience with Crysta, mine is going strong, touch wood.

I installed ice cool green shade 2 years back when odo was around 12k kms. Cooling was an issue due to the large glass area and this was the best addition. Current odo is 52k and the tint has decreased a bit but still going strong. You will need one full roll for the windshield and another one for the side windows. For rear I used Wurth ( cheaper option that was available ). Use the green tint as it looks like UV cut glasses that comes in high end cars.
