Re: Hyundai Kona : Official Review

The current version of Hyundai Kona on the website is still the last gen International Kona from a design perspective, right ? Is there any chance or details about the next gen 2024 Kona launch in India ? Any timelines ?

Re: Hyundai Kona : Official Review

2024 Kona has just been launched in korea & then it’s slated for launch in Europe,Australia,Usa by this year.

It seems Currently for year 2023 Hyundai india is busy with Ioniq-5 i think it is fair to expect kona 2024 to arrive by end of 2023 or early 2024 fingers crossed

Re: Hyundai Kona : Official Review

I am interested in buying the Kona EV and have a few questions.
1. Is it assembled in India, or is it a CBU unit?
2. What is the actual range in the city, and on Highways assuming you drive it normally like an ICE car?
4. Does it have Apple CarPlay? Is it wired or wireless?
3. Are anyone of you using it in Mumbai? If so, have you driven to Pune on a single charge?
Thanks in advance.

I used to have a kona before I sold it for an Ioniq 5. But here are the anwers to your questions based on my experience with Kona:
1. It is assembled in India
2. Range in city is around ~280 kms and highway about ~325 kms
4. Wired Apple CarPlay - used it a lot.
3. I live in Pune and I did lots of trips to Mumbai on a single Charge. Tip: Try & use the recuperation at 0 & keep coasting as much as possible. Of course you'll need to recharge if coming from Mumbai to Pune. I used to recharge at Vikhroli, when coming to Mumbai from Pune.

Hope these help.

Re: Hyundai Kona : Official Review

1. It’s a CKD unit car

2. Expect it to run 330-320 km with Ac in summers on highway and in winters without heater it can go upto 340 km+ at 80-90 km/h of course with higher speeds range loss is there but u can any day do 300 km+ with 80-85 km/h in Eco mode which is adequate for highways i Don’t use car for city commute it’s either on eScooter or on e-bike.

3.Wired car play I am using a Carlinkit dongle which converts wired to wireless Apple car play

Remember current kona ev in india will be phased out for 2024 kona which will arrive by next year of course at premium price and u do feel missing of connected car tech ,Lower gc, space in current one but apart from these aspects otherwise it’s a sorted ev.

Thanks. Did the low ground clearance bother you on these Mumbai/Pune trips?

Thanks. What is this Carlinkit you mention? Is sounds like a useful accessory. Where can one buy it?

The low GC is the only thing that bothers me about the Kona. I don’t require rear seat space cos mostly it’s only two people in the car. I have seen pictures of the 2024 Kona; I’m not sure I like the looks, but we will see when I arrives on the scene. I’ll take a test drive. It’s the compact size of the Kona that attracts me vs the MG EV.

By the way, does the Kona have a reasonable resale value?

Re: Hyundai Kona : Official Review

This is the link u can check out here delivery time ranges from 20 days to 1 month plus even :

https://carlinkitcarplay.com/

Definitely Low gc can be an issue with 4 occupants plus load in the car while negotiating poor designed speed breakers not from Maharashtra so can’t comment about mumbai-Pune section to be honest.

Nope. Ground clearance was not an issue at all.

Re: Hyundai Kona : Official Review

Has anyone bought a Kona in Mumbai? Which Hyundai dealer did you buy it from?

Re: Hyundai Kona : Official Review

So the Mumbai Hyundai dealers tell me the Kona is no longer in production. That’s a pity. Will have to wait until next year for the next-gen Kona.

Re: Hyundai Kona : Official Review

I have driven my Kona for more than 5500 kms now since I bought in jan-23 and I would say it is one of the most sorted ev in the market. Though some feel it is dated but I believe with these cars, it is better to wait for few years as they mature in the market and some teething issues are sorted by the manufacturer. Kona initially has battery recall. Anyway, low ground clearance is not a big issue I feel as it is good enough for our roads though sometimes one needs to be careful. Only lesser space in the back and ergonomics due to raised floor in the back is some demerit. Otherwise it is an excellent car with robust build (CKD) , battery range of 350 kms , good battery management system and ergonomics in the front. In india, Hyundai is still selling it and the new model may come by late 2024. I would recommend it at the price point now available (25-26 lacs). Thanks.

Re: Hyundai Kona : Official Review

Regarding Tyres. Has anyone put top-of-the-line Michelin or other high-end branded tyres on their Kona? I suspect the ride quality would improve tremendously, although range might take a slight hit. Would be worth doing, I think.
