What do you think, fellow BHP'ians?
Those rims and AT tyres suit the Duster's character. I never liked the diamond cut alloys which came with it.

One suggestion - how about adding another coat of matt black paint to the rims? Currently, they look a little jaded (maybe it is the picture).

No, you're absolutely right, they're a little jaded. And yes, painting is on the agenda next. I've never understood the whole concept of giving large diameter alloys on a CSUV/SUV. Takes away the character of this segment of vehicles. It's like asking a Rugby player to wear Gucci heels and play..

Got the downsizing done and over with. And I'm pretty satisfied with the overall result. There's a slight increase in Road noise considering these are all terrain treads, but not to the point where it becomes irritating. Ride quality has improved, don't know whether it's a placebo effect or whether the reduction of approx 2 mm of ground clearance has indeed improved the driving, handling and riding characteristics (lower centre of gravity than before, you get the drift..)
Absolutely LOVE those rims on your duster...

These pics have made me heavily consider swapping out my Duster's 17 inchers for some steel wheels and AT tyres...

Would you mind sharing a few more angles of your duster, for other readers as well as my pleasure

Thanks!

Hey, where did you get the arm rest done, looks really good.
I have been looking to get them done on my duster for both driver and passenger seat. mine is older version with no arm rest at all.

I got it done from a place in Kerala which specialises in custom interiors, TK automotive car boutique in Kochi, Kerala. Google it and it'll come up.

Mods, please feel free to delete in case I've breached any TBHP rules. I just wanted to share my happiness here. This same pic on the page of a very famous Social media (SM) platform has gone a bit viral. I'm surprised at the love and adulation pouring in, since all I did was to restore the OEM settings the OG Duster came with. Sharing a pic for the likes, comments and queries it has got till now, and counting! This is my most viral post ever since I joined that SM platform 15-16 years ago!

I don't think I'm gonna get more likes, ever again! I just wished and hope Renault India was serious about the Duster, as much as they're with Kwid, Kiger and Triber!

Oh! and the Duster Turbo 1.3L NOW eats potholes for breakfast, lunch and dinner

Renault Duster production ends in India after almost a decade: Autocar
Quote:
Renault India has stopped production of the Duster SUV at its Sriperumbudur plant, almost 10 years since the first unit rolled out in July 2012. The Duster was one of the first mainstream products from the manufacturer in India, and was a sales success with close to 40,000 units sold in its first year of production. The Duster was also the SUV that kickstarted the monocoque midsize SUV segment with rivals such as the Hyundai Creta joining in later.

Just out of curiosity: Where is this Travancore? Do you mean the erstwhile princely state of Travancore comprising of present day Southern Kerala?

Sorry for the misunderstanding...

I meant Tranquebar (otherwise known as Tharangambadi)

Re: Renault Duster 1.3L Turbo Petrol : Official Review

Recently did a BLR-Munnar round trip (~1200 kms). Approx mileage: 12-13 kmpl

The car continues to hold its fort on highways as well as completely broken roads of Munnar tea estates. The uphill climb was a piece of cake. Managed to cover most hair pin bends on the 3rd gear at 2000 rpm. It appears that upgrading to Michelins was definitely worth it. The ride quality has improved and thankfully there were no punctures during the trip. Odo reads at 5000 kms now.

Re: Renault Duster 1.3L Turbo Petrol : Official Review

Just got back from a trip to Trichy and overall mileage hovered at around 9 to 11 kmpl.
The AC managed to cool the car quite well even as the mercury hit 38 degree celsius.

The engine was never underwhelming and was an absolute JOY during overtakes.

We also hit the 7000 kms milestone during this trip

Re: Renault Duster 1.3L Turbo Petrol : Official Review

My Duster 1.3 Turbo doesn't crank on first go for past two days. After 3 to 7 attempts (every try was scary as electricals were partially coming to life and going down) engine comes in to life. Renault ASC says it's a battery issue. But I've all the dash, horn, cabin light and headlight working fine. Wondering how is that possible at all !

I checked in a local Exide battery shop where I found when engine is running voltage has to be 13.5 volts (that's how battery will get charged) but it's it's 12.5 volts only. He claimed alternator has gone kaput. His claim seems wrong as city drive around adds juice and crank is relative successful in fewer attempts.

Took the car to Renault to ASC where battery test gave replace battery indication. Attaching picture for reference.

I'm said it's gel based battery and not available in stock in any of the Renault ASC across Bengaluru and it needs to procured !

I'm asked for 5 days time to get it arranged. I've few queries as below.

1. Does OEM battery go kaput so soon ? It's 2020 Nov manufactured vehicle. I disable auto off / on switch as it doesn't work as expected
2. Despite running 10k KMs in a year does a battery going weak ?
3. Issue was seen couple of days ago after 800 KM run but improves with 50km city run about. Doesn't battery get charged to fullest in long drives rather short drives?
4. Why does Renault Nissan (Made in Spain) gel batteries aren't stocked. Had my battery ran out of juice in tier 2 city during my trips I would have to wait for 5 days for a battery ?
5. Can we go with normal battery from Exide which has visual health checks and has 48-64 months warranty.
6. What's the technology behind these gel based battery and how long do they last and what's cost ? (Duster owners please share)

Thanks in advance.

I'll let the Duster owners comment but I would have quietly connected a spare Exide battery and driven it around to check the alternator. AGM batteries usually last 5+ years, and I'm surprised it conked off so soon. How much are they going to charge you anyway?

Google for Swastik Fabs too. They import aftermarket AGM batteries and may be able to guide you.
