This has happened too many times with me as well, and continuing.

2 reasons to follow this approach.
1. For me the fuel gauge was still showing 100 km left, but a low fuel warning popped up. We cannot trust which one is correct, hence never rely on the reserve.
2. BS6 heavily relies on the fuel pumps, hence to increase its life it is better not to drive much on the reserves.
Hi all,
I am planning to buy a Safari Accomplished plus AT version and have been checking out various dealerships around my place. I live in Chinchwad area in Pune.
The thing is all the dealers/SAs seem good and really professional until I ask them if I can get a 3rd Party PDI done. I was planning to get a PDI done by Zekardo but all of the dealers are saying you can do PDI but not 3rd party ones because they damage the car with their equipments and don’t take responsibility. Saibaba Autowheels even have posters saying no 3rd party PDI is allowed.
Is this even allowed? Can someone suggest some dealerships who allow 3rd party PDI around Pune.

I would say get the Zekardo guy and tell him to not use any equipments for doing the PDI. They are experienced enough to be still able to do 95 percent of the job and find out if something is really wrong with the car or not. Tell the showroom that he is friend of yours and nothing further.
Title says it all!
Booked a #dark Safari without ever being inside a Safari and being an employee of other major competitive brand offering employee's discount on their SUVs.
Fingers crossed. Let it rain!

Well, it's a good vehicle to be in. Congratulations on your booking. Wish you miles of smiles behind the wheels when you get your hands on it.

This doesn't seem legal, you should be able to perform an extensive PDI with a 3rd party.
We took the delivery of our Safari Accomplished+ AT and we had done a 3rd party PDI through Zekardo. The dealer didn't allow connecting to the OBD port, but had no issues with all the other aspects of the PDI, which includes checking for repainted areas. Don't think there are any invasive tests that they perform. Maybe you can take to social media with this anti consumer policy?
On a different note, I'd like to mention Cauvery Motors, Bangalore (KR Puram) and the very pleasant experience we had with them right from the booking process. Our Sales Rep - Mr Somshekhar, was very proactive with the communication and kept us posted on every update along the way.
Coming from a 2018 XUV500, the higher bonnet will take some getting used to, but loving the cockpit experience. Especially the Audi-esque full screen maps on the MID. We went for a short night time drive, and I have to say, the auto dimming IRVM is such an underrated feature, so convenient!
Over all drive, ride and the cabin experience is definitely an upgrade from our previous car.

Have you checked with Rudra Motors Viman Nagar? I bought my Safari AC+ AT with them and it was an amazing experience. Got delivery within 1 week with registration. Got a 50k discount on the MY24 model too.
But I am not sure about the 3rd party PDI.
Also as mentioned above, take the Zekardo guy as your friend and they won't say anything.

Thank you guys for the suggestions.
I was eventually unable to find any dealer which would allow us to get a 3rd party PDI done without using any equipments.
But I am not fretting over it anymore because I found out just today that my father's good friend works in Tata Motors Pimpri plant where all Safari's are being manufactured and he promised us that he will personally make sure the car is tested and checked properly in the factory itself once we tell him the chassis number after allotment.

Good for you:)
Though it'd have been more confidence inspiring if your father's friend would have vouched for the QC for all cars coming out of factory and not needing to personally supervise one car !

Thats true. But even if he had vouched for it, who would've believed him? So I guess he just told my dad that he'll make sure we get a good product.

Hi, I’ve also arrived upon the decision of buying the New Safari In Accomplished Variant in Galactic Sapphire Colour option.
I’ve also faced this same issue from Adishakti Motors, Nagawara, Bangalore.
They clearly denied TDI with 3rd party inspectors upfront, however i was told that i can bring as many people from family or friends to do the PDI and they have no objection with that.
Can anyone suggest showrooms in bangalore that allows PDI from Zekardo?
Coming back to my Decision of buying the Safari, I’ve no confusions about the variants or colour to go with, but the one and only thing am confused with is between the MT and AT. I test drove both MT and AT, and to add up to my confusion both felt really really good. So about me,
I’m a person who enjoys driving to the core and love the pleasure of driving Manual and having the control of the Vehicle fully. I enjoy all kinds of roads, the highways, bad roads, Ghats and state highways.
I also love driving in bangalore Traffic (I know its weirdrl:)
But all these reviews and comments about choosing AT over MT has put me in a big Dilemmma, if I wasn’t into this space, I’d have chosen the MT by now without any thought.
So my situation right now:
Multiple thoughts about ATs which is because I’ve always been overlooking ATs when it comes to transmissions and would argue about MTs being real fun in when it comes to driving.
Are ATs really fun? Do they get boring on Highways? Does it give the driver as much control as the MT does? Is engine breaking possible on ATs like in MTs?
Currently stuck with the last single aspect of decision making ie AT or MT before going ahead and booking the Vehicle.
I’m leaving it to all my fellow Bhpians to help me choose, meanwhile I’m going to take more Test drives of both

Honestly, if you are going to drive the safari in Bangalore traffic, I really suggest an AT, but you mentioned you like driving in the city traffic, so it's completely up to you.
Please try taking test drives of both MT and AT in both city and highway conditions. That will give you the clarity. None of us here can take a decision for you, it's completely your choice.

We took our car from Cauvery Motors, KR Puram. I didn't inform them about a 3rd party PDI, I just reached there with the Zekardo guy and they didn't object. Fortunately, no issues were found during the PDI and I gave the dealer the go ahead for delivery then and there
About the AT, I am really liking it, the ratios are tuned perfectly tuned in the City mode for normal drives and the Sports mode offers more aggressive shifts for quick overtakes.
We had a manual Rapid and i10 before we moved to the AT XUV500 and it was the best decision we made. I don’t feel the lack of control at all, and you can always switch to the manual mode if you need to intervene (within the confines of the AT ratios ofcourse)
Second free service update
Car has done about 5700KMs so far. Ownership has been largely trouble-free. As planned, changed my service center from Kropex Singasandra to Prerana Kudlu gate and boy Am I glad!
The service experience at Prerana was much better than Kropex. My earlier experience with Kropex is posted
here.
Before second service was scheduled, I had got a call from Kropex folks to visit service center and get software update done. I went there hoping it would be a infotainment software update which was long overdue for my car as I was still running the original 12.46 version from Sep 2023. But, I was told that only the TCU ("transmission control unit") software will be updated. I had no idea what it was but agreed for it with the condition that infotainment software should also be updated (because I was asked to leave the car for whole day). To my surprise they said there is no infotainment SW update available from Tata. I talked to the person in charge and mentioned that on TeamBHP, some users have reported to have upgraded to latest SW. I was then told that Tata might not have made the SW update available in "all regions". This did not make sense so I came back home without the update and then talked to the highest level person in the service team at Kropex over phone. Explained him everything and he assured that someone would call and take care of this issue. Kropex CRM called me on the same day to tell he is checking and will get back soon. But, he did not. Had to text him couple of times to remind. Finally, he texted after a week - "Sorry sir, Kropex has not received any updated infotainment software. We can only update TCU software for now"
I decided that I am done with Kropex and moved on. Scheduled the service with Prerana motors and lo and behold, they updated both TCU and Infotainment softwares without any fuss!
I will never understand why some businesses make customer suffer so much. This probably is a minor thing but I am filled with so much discontent that I even hate the word "Kropex" now. Lol.
The service at Prerana was event-free like it should be. Unlike Kropex:
- Service reception area is neat, clean and spacious
- Employees act and communicate in a much more professional manner
- SA was responsive. Never failed to receive my call during the day.
- All issues mentioned in job card were addressed
- Car delivery in evening was prompt and fuss-free. Car was already cleaned and ready to be delivered before I arrived.
Basically, they somewhat restored my faith in Tata motors brand.
Coming to the latest software. Version is 14.18 (March 2024). Yet to fully test but I hope that following issues in old software are now resolved:
- Settings were getting reset on their own. Ex: jbl equalizer levels, Driver-seat easy entry/exit disable, System volume level, Safety sound volume level
- Front sensors would fail to activate some times
- Alexa takes 3 to 4 mins to become active after ignition
- Radio reception was poor
- MID would sometimes get stuck and won't show current speed and transmission levels
A regression I immediately noticed with new software is that music quality has gone down. It sounds flatter and low. Volume level 6 now sounds like volume level 4 in earlier version. Plus, audio is not as punchy and vibrant as before. Noticed that it gets better if the jbl enhancer is turned off. Is anyone else facing this too? New software screenshot:
A view of the workshop:

My thought process is very simple. You should definitely get an AT if you satisfy one of the below:
1. You live in a metro city and face heavy traffic on a frequent basis
2. You are not the sole driver of the car. If currently OR in the future, someone else in your family like your wife or someone elderly is going to drive it
Also, given the amount the Safari is going to cost I think the incremental you spend for getting an AT is justified for the peace of mind its gonna bring to you about the future use case.
