Hey FOlks, my bro in law has a pre-facelift Safari Dark edition (mid life facelifted version w/ ADAS etc) for the last 1.5 yrs. Initially he was in Gurgaon and last 6m in Mumbai. He recently noticed a gap (see pictures below) on the front windshield top. Not certain how long it has existed. He showed to Tata A.S.S and they confirmed its just a beading issue and actually sealant etc is all fine and not action needs to be taken. thoughts from the forum? has anyone experienced this ? Should it be left as is?

Yes, this should be okay. I had similar gap in my 2023 Tata Safari has well and had no issues. There is not much can be done to have it closed now, the only option is to have the windshield removed and refix it. In my case, I had a crack and when my windshield was replaced, I showed it to my service advisor, and it was duly taken care. So you can just ignore it and move on, no issues in my opinion.

Does anyone have any tips on how to clean the front and bottom grille in the facelifted Safari?

I'm finding it very difficult to clean and get my hands hurt.

If you are dusting - you can use any duster like Jopasu. For wet cleaning or while washing, use a wash mitt (glove with threads for cleaning dirt).

I am in the market for a new car and test drove the Safari automatic. Overall loved the car and it fits within my budget. Just a couple of questions to folks who already own the car

1) I did notice a lot of play in the brake lever and the sales rep mentioned that it could be because different people across their branches drive the car. The TD car had driven around 27,000 kms. As the car ages, are you seeing some play in your brake lever? It felt kinda off and did not inspire confidence while braking at high speeds.

2) Folks who own the 6 seater version, how is the middle row space with the last row completely folded? I did a test drive of a seven bench version and noticed that when the last row seats are completely down, the middle row needs to be a little forward. It gave me a feeling that the occupants of the middle row might be cramped for space if we have the third row fully down and the driver seat set for a six footer. Any thoughts on this?

The brake lacks bite even when the car is new ! You need to press the pedal far too deep to stop the car !

I have a 2023 pre-facelift Safari, but I believe some of the factors above would apply the same even on my older version.

I did not notice a change in brake level play. Car driven around 15k kms so far.

I can confirm that with the last row folded, atleast on the 7 seater version, the middle rows have to be moved to the furthest they go in front. With me (6 ft) driving with my seat pushed back, you can comfortably seat a child (or a car seat) behind the driver, but an adult may feel cramped, especially on longer drives.

Thank you very much for your response. This is super helpful, I too felt the same that with the last row folded, the middle rows do get cramped.

...

A friend of mine took delivery of a 2024 Tata Safari from Bellad Motors, Bengaluru. To her shock, issues started from the moment she took delivery of the car.
When she started the car, TPMS showed warning indicating low pressure in the tire. When pointed out, SA said, you can fill air from the nearest petrol bunk.

At the petrol bunk, she got the tire checked for air and found that the tire had a nail, which caused a puncture.

She drove home and went back to the dealership again the next day to report the issue with the tire and to ask for a replacement. They said they cannot replace the tire.

She then starts the car to go back home and shifts to Drive mode, presses the accelerator, and the car starts reversing! She informed the SA. The technician comes, tries various things and does a factory reset of the system. Then the car started moving normally. He then gives a valuable advice "if it happens again, just do a factory reset."

After reaching home, she inspects the car and notices some paint mismatch and eventually discovers that the left door was repainted.

She spoke to a few friends and then discovers that the car was manufactured in May 2024, sold in Jan 2025 at 32L+ as a brand-new car. The salesperson did not inform her at any point that this is an eight months old car that was lying in the yard till then.

On further checking, she found more issues:

- the door handle makes crackling noise when opening the door.
- the dashboard had cracks
- seats and the roof have stains and marks.
- there were no plastics seat covers that would typically appear in new cars.

She informed these to the service advisor, the SA says, you bring the car to service center, we will repair and resolve the issues.

Thoroughly disappointed, she has now written to the higher authorities in TATA and the dealership asking for a replacement. She plans to move legally if needed.

Any advice or experience in this matter is appreciated.

I am myself a Harrier owner for five years now and didn’t have a bad experience till now from TATA or the service center. This is a classic example of how dealers spoil the ownership experience.

This is NOT acceptable in any car, of any value. Do ensure that your friend has some way to prove that this happened. It can help in proving that the car is unreliable if she goes the legal route.

Very likely you have been sold an accident piece. All of these point to something untoward happening with the car before delivery. Was a PDI not done on the car before delivery?

The manufacturing date of the tyres, the date on chassis number, ODO reading at delivery(?) would have pointed to the age of the car (first red flag). The spoilt paint, damage to dashboard and so many of the issues would have pointed to something untoward happening with the car (second red flag).

In any case, at this point, the only hope is to pursue with Tata higher ups or take the legal route. The showroom will simply wash their hands off. They wanted to get rid of an accident car, and they managed to do it at full price.

Finally, do keep in mind that the resale value of the car will be significantly impacted. Even if you continue with the car, you do deserve to get a big discount. Also, ensure you take extended warranty on the car (complimentary if you ask me).

She has a record of the email exchanges listing issues and the dealer agreeing to resolve them at the service center.

PDI was done by the dealer but no checklist of PDI was handed over to her even after she asked. Expecting a great experience, she didnt seem to have asked for the VIN before making full payment. Many unsuspecting customers just trust the dealers, but in this case she was really unfortunate. Hoping TATA will step in.

.

She is hoping that TATA higher ups will respond responsibly. As of today, the dealer has asked for an appointment to discuss a solution. I don't think any solution other than replacing the unit makes sense as a customer.

Hello Everyone,

Hope all fellow driving enthusiasts are doing well !!

I am back with the review of my Safari Accomplished 7S version after the 3rd servicing. The vehicle went for service 2 days before the 365 days limit, with ODO reading 14700 KMS. This time for the service I sat and waited for full time at the service center and looked over the complete service process myself. (reason – read my previous post on 2nd service)

1. The service started with quick Oil-Change, Oil filter change and some check on nuts and bolts on the wheels. Topping up of few other liquids, 10L of DEF top up.
I had opted-out of wheel alignment and balancing as I would get it done outside.

2. After 2hrs to my amusement the service station guy said the servicing is done. I asked how come ?
Then he said as I am waiting so he tried to do it fast. (will tell you later what this fast turned out to be for me). I asked them to take their time – wash the vehicle and do other activities too as part of service check-list.

3. Next up was the software update for the Lane Keep Assist. This took some 1+hr. By this time lunch-time happened and the vehicle waited for 1hour for the lunch to finish and then went for washing.

4. Even after the s/w update the radio reception was still bad so the technician mentioned that all of the tail-lights would need to be replaced so some TD needs to be raised. (Someone else also mentioned on the forum that this was done to their vehicle also so I too agreed). They raised TD as the part had to be obtained from the plant as they are vehicle specific.

5. So finally the service was done. Total Time taken – 7hrs. Total Amount = Rs. 13,243. Now in the bill they added some 3M A/C cleaning which was not mentioned to me at the time of job-card preparation, and I am sure was not done also (hurried service completion) but I had nothing to prove as I was in the customer lobby while the work was done in the shop-floor. I could see the vehicle in front of my eyes thru the glass window. So I paid for the full amount.

Post-Service issue – 1
I came back home, parked the vehicle and then didn’t use it for next 2 days. 3rd day when I took it out I saw a big oil mark on the garage floor. I bent down to see and touched under the vehicle belly with my hand and it was all oil (the place where oil filter was kept). Scared, I ran to the service center to get it checked as I was about to go on a 1500kms trip to my home town during Christmas break.
The service center put the vehicle on the lift. Opened the under cover and checked. As per them there was no oil leakage from the filter, or the place from where oil is taken out for discharge. They cleaned it with dry cloth. As per them reasoning – when they took the oil during servicing some of it goes and gets stuck near the wheel and that’s from where it keeps dripping for some days to follow. For me those some days were good 10 days as every day I was seeing some spot on the garage.

Post-Service and software update issue – 2
This is software related. I noticed below couple of findings –

1. By default the Car starts with Lane Keep Assist. Earlier it used to be Lane Departure Warning, but now you have to remember to change the settings by pressing the button on the steering wheel else the Car tries to auto correct all the time which is irritating in city-traffic

2. In cruise control the Lane Keep Assist is by default always On, again this is irritating as I want to steer the car myself and let the computer only manage the speed. But not possible so car tries to auto correct the lane always – this takes the fun away from driving

3. Key Issue – The parking assist is not working properly. Like, once I get to garage and slow the car, I turn on the 360 camera, so the front sensors should also get activated (this used to happen earlier) but they don’t so I don’t get any beep-sound even if I am too close to the front car/wall. If I put the car on reverse, and then again on Drive, then front sensors starts to work.
When I showed this to service center folks they said that slow-activation was not activated on the settings and that’s why its not working. But even after activating it the park assist is not working correctly. Rather now the camera turns on automatically if someone comes too close even in the traffic red-light or while driving – so I have turned it off now.

Tail Light Change Update –
Got a call from service center that the replacement part has arrived and come after taking an appointment. So went there last Saturday. Again, waited for full time during the replacement. Took 5hrs (1hr lunch time 😊). They replaced all the 3 lights on the tail and voila the radio is working way-way better now !!! Don’t know how come taillight is linked to radio signal (may be Tata added 1 more receiver in the modified tail light for better reception).
Surprising part is – the new taillight doesn’t come with Tata Logo. This has to be taken out of the old light and pasted on the new light. Tata could have done this in the plant itself. Its just a matter of few hundred rupees.
Anyways, the taillight was covered under warranty.

That’s all for now Folks !!! Cheers,

Tata's cars are always a hit and a miss. This stops me from upgrading my Nexon to a Harrier.

I had recently visited the showroom (Garve Tata) in Baner. At first no one took notice of us for 15-20 minutes. Every salesperson was busy on their phone or chatting to someone.

I had to make some noise before someone attended to me half-heartedly. They pointed to the Harrier parked which was a demo piece. Wasn't clean outside or inside. Looking at the product I could see that this car would not age well.

When asked for a test drive they took all the details. When I sat in the car another guy came running saying there is no diesel in the vehicle. That's it. They said sorry test drive is not possible.

Considering the attitude I have totally dropped the idea of upgrading and wasting money on a Tata. I will probably book an XUV as the Mahindra team was super responsive. Car was clean and I was given a 20 km test drive.

Unless one stops purchasing Tata cars they will not learn

Even I had the same issue after second service of my 2024 Nexon DCA. I observed the oil leaking daily for about 10 days as told by the service center. When it didn't stop even after that, took it to the service center. It turned out that one of the corner bolt was not tightened properly using torque wrench. Tightening it solved the issue

My safari has completed 42 months and 45k KMs, running strong.
Welcoming a capable sibling this month :)
