I feel the top variants of Kylaq are slightly over-priced.
Skoda haven't released the pricing for any variant other than the base. The pricing you are referring to is a prediction by one of our fellow team-bhpian's (even though the pic does appear to be an official price release):

IMHO that's a must have feature now-a-days.
Adds useful bling quotient to any car.

Altroz, Baleno and Fronx have 360 degree parking cameras (Even the new Dzire has it!). Tata Punch may get it after the facelift. I'm pretty sure Hyundai will be forced to add it on i20 and everything above it, to compete with others.

In my opinion it's not a gimmicky feature at all. I've seen it doing wonders in some of the super narrow roads/paths. I really hope Skoda add it to the Kylaq before the actual launch, since some of the features are still undecided (They are still deleting/changing some features and colors in their website!).

Anyway, they've defnitely hit it out of the park with the exterior design and the competition in the segment is heating up. Let's hope some sensible pricing for the top-end so that competition heats up even more and customers gets all the benefits.

One more thing, the colors on the Skoda 3D visualiser are a bit darker compared to the real life colors (Notice the real life 'Olive Gold' color in the daytime review video in one of the above post and the image in the 3D visualiser. Very different). So the mouth watering 'Carbon Steel' might be a boring Slate grey which they also showed in the launch event. I too wish it was darker, but I guess it's not. Or we will have to wait till we see it under the real sunlight.

Re: Skoda Kylaq Pre-Production Camouflaged Car First Drive & Preview

Now an enthusiast can get a really good car under 10L on road in any Indian state. For those calling Kushaq’s 1.0 redundant, here’s some logic,
  • Kushaq has great legroom in back, not so with Kylaq.
  • Kushaq’s boot is way bigger if compared till roof.
  • Kushaq’s design is more mature vs this feels kind of blingy at the rear.
  • There could be some invisible cost cutting in Kylaq, whereas Kushaq is now a mature product.
  • Kushaq may get ADAS and Pano roof with the facelift.

From the speculated pricing, if someone is going for top to mid variants, there’ll be,
  • Cross shopping with Kushaq / Slavia base.
  • Honda Elevate V is a strong 1 segment up proposition in Kylaq top variant price range.
  • 3X0 is a formidable competitor with all features loaded.
  • It’ll likely settle for mediocre numbers in the long run.

I just wish they should have launched with ADAS! It is usable on Indian highways.

Q: How many of us will really need/use 360 cams in such small cars? What about utilizing IRVM, ORVM and most important judgement!

The G12 Engine in 3XO is tuned brilliantly as good as TSI if not more. Very responsive and even with Zap mode, it has beaten couple of Kushaqs and Taiguns in highways in my real experience. TSI could be a known engine to many, however, Mahindra pulled a brilliant 1.2L 3-pot motor that is no way less than TSI.

Re: Skoda Kylaq Pre-Production Camouflaged Car First Drive & Preview

I was dreaming that they would bring the prices at the level of Tata Punch and get crazy volumes. alas, Skoda has kept it little higher than Nexon. The top end AT variants will be almost Or higher than Nexon.

Nexon has more features than this one with 360 camera, GNCAP 5 star rating (Kylaq doesnt has ratings out yet), good speakers surround sound. Nice back lights, good ground clearance, tough body (expecting Kylaq to be similar to Tatas).

If one could get an AT for less than 10L on road for Kylaq, it would have been great.

Re: Skoda Kylaq Pre-Production Camouflaged Car First Drive & Preview

It's a brilliant package and a drivers car that I was long waiting to hit the market! No 360 degree camera? Who cares when you want to experience the pleasure of Euro car. It would help but not mandatory. It ticks all the want list I wished in my next upgrade:

1. Sub 4m CSUV
2. Sleek and slim DRLs, personally I don't like lengthy or big c shaped ones
3. Powerfull LED head lamps
4. Good boot space
5. Comfortable rear space for persons under 6 inches, not everyone is as tall as a Giraffe! That % is minimal.
6. Safety
7. Nice infotainment system
8. Good ground clearance
9. AT
10. Minimalist tail lamps, didn't like elongated end to end ones seen with recent makes.

Only thing I wanted that seems to be missing is blue color shade in the variants. Hope it would be added once bookings open officially!

Excited to have my hands on the machine and try it out!

Škoda Auto India unveils the all-new Škoda Kylaq, the Czech brand’s first model in the popular sub-4-metre segment, which accounts for nearly 50% of sales in the Indian car market. The Kylaq SUV is the first model in India to adopt elements of Škoda’s new Modern Solid design language. It is powered by an efficient 1.0 TSI engine and features more than 25 active and passive safety features as standard. The latest addition to Škoda’s line-up, developed and produced locally for the Indian market, will hit the roads in early 2025 with a very competitive price tag of INR 789,000.

Not sure why the buzz regarding this launch is so muted here on TeamBHP, but I find the proposition of Kylaq to be exemplary!

Re: Skoda Kylaq Pre-Production Camouflaged Car First Drive & Preview

I am rather more interested in the pricing of the Automatic variants.

Hope Skoda offers more variants with AT.

Something like Kushaq Onyx AT on the Kylaq will be highly appreciated.

We don't have many choices when we need a good powerful engine with a torque converter AT down the price range.

So if you want to get rear wiper, auto dimming IRVM or ventilated seats you need to go with the top variant.

That’s really unfortunate. I was hoping for a mid variant without the addons like sunroof but which has ventilated seats, auto dimming IRVM and a rear viper.

I can even let go of the ventilated seats but the auto dimming IRVM and rear wiper are basic features and should be there from base variant. A wiper doesn’t even cost that much.

Re: Skoda Kylaq Pre-Production Camouflaged Car First Drive & Preview

This definitely looks like a great value proposition. I was eyeing the XUV3XO before this, with the TGDI motor. I was fascinated by the XUV300 before it (even now i like the exterior of the 300 better than the 3XO). The Kylaq seems to be hitting all the right notes. Right amount of boot space with a beautifully proportioned exterior married to one of the most sorted engines set in a wonderfully stable platform.

I would have loved to see the 1.5 TSI motor in the Kylaq. The pricing may have gone overboard though. Also, since Kushaq no longer offers 1.5 TSI with the manual option, we can surely expect Kushaq sales to go down significantly.

The rear has some bits from the Q2 as well, Q2 too had an awkward looking rear.

Awkward for some, awesome for the rest! Rear of Kylaq looks great as compared to Q2. It's all individual perception though.

My next car will surely have one. 360 Cam is not for judging while driving. There are lots of kids and pets roaming around in our parking. It's a matter of all-around visibility. Also the advantage of on-screen blind-spot and road edges/curbs view (that too sometimes in the instrument cluster. Hello TATA ).

You could be mistaken due to the optics. It may be just that it offers a longer seat base/good under thigh support. At least that was the case with Fabia - from the looks of it an Indica or Swift would appear more spacious, but their seats would barely cover 3/4th of your thigh.
