I was also told by Monish that the Glasurit surface has got anit corrisive propertires. In a sense one do not require an Etch primer before applying this primer.

re: Monster 1969 VW Beetle Restoration - EDIT : Delivered

Over the past 2 weeks, fitting work continued, but too many critical spares are missing and somehow made sure they land here at the right time, Thanks to Bullet_boy (Pankaj ) for the timely help

While the tinker got busy with fitting, it was time to start work on the upholstery, sadly the car owner decided to try someone out of my team, no issues, sent the car out to the upholstery guy, i just wish it comes back safely.

re: Monster 1969 VW Beetle Restoration - EDIT : Delivered

Status Quo on the car after 2 months. Recently me and my mechanic were called upon to assess the car, and we could see NO Progress apart from some bits of wiring and 2 mirrors fitted on the car. Waited no further but took the Bug again under my wings to give it, Its wings

Wait for further updates here.

It had gone out for upholstery as per your post earlier. So when it came back there was no upholstery done either?

Nope.! Well the car is here now and is ready to fly soon, waiting for few crucial parts, should arrive in a day or two, in the meantime most of the mechanical work is nearing completion.

My goodness, with the light kerb weight of this car, the Beetle will practically FLY. Back of the envelope calculations show a power to weight that's better than even the Laura TSI & some 30 lakh Germans Congrats Pavan.

What gearbox will you use? Brake upgrade?

The VW Gearbox during the 67 - 74 were better , later went back to the pre-66 era one's. This car is a post 66 model, so the gearbox by default comes with better gear-ratios to handle powerful engines.

Brake upgrades are as follows

1) Heavy Duty Dual Circuit Master cylinder
2) Stock drum brakes at the rear
3) Disc brake conversion kit at the front

Presently i am choosing the type of Alloys that will go well with the car, hopefully i might get down EMPI's or from FUCH's.

Awesome to see some high performance air-cooled VW's in India finally

My suggestion for the wheels is either BRM's or the Porsche-style Fuchs for a proper Cal-Look car!.

Fully agree, Onus goes to my friend who is going around doing such mods

Wheels are being discussed, should come in a few days time. FUCH's it might be

Meanwhile, few updates :

The External oil-cooler plumbing done using Hydraulic pipes from JCB.

New wheel bearings and disc brakes fitted

Brand new Fuel tank arrived

Short shifter fitted.

CHEAP Shanco Delux wiring done presently will be thrown out and will make way for FINOLEX wiring loom.( was done by some idiot at the earlier workshop) Will be Re-Done.

Hopeful to fire the Engine today, just waiting for the oil-filter and oil-cooler to be fitted.

Sounds awesome

But, why is the rear engine tin missing? The hot air from under the engine should not come back into the engine bay. Make sure this piece and the rubber engine compartment seal are in place.
