This is the same place where the car was lying. I had wrongly thought it was Shivajinagar though.

It's indeed gone worse but can still be restored. I wonder why the person who started this thread did not pick her up when he said he did!

The owner of this STAN-8 is looking for original steering wheel & Semaphore indicators. The condition of this car looks awesome.
"Hi! I have a 1954 Standard 8 Vintage Car and I am looking for the original STEERING WHEEL and SEMAPHORE INDICATORS.
Thanks.
Angad Grewal" (09914992600).

Hope we can help me restore a vintage.
The cars is in Jalandhar-Punjab.

Interestingly small world! I'd seen this very car in Madurai, Tamil Nadu last year. It was painted a metallic green then (as on the post 2000 M800s) but the owner was getting it repainted. The engine was not original but that of a 10, although he said he did have the original engine lying around at home.
It was fitted with an LPG kit as well (although quite a task considering the access to the boot was from the inside of the car, moving the rear seat forward!)
The owner had been quoting a rather high price on it so the deal didnt go through.

The front grille on this car is not original though. The 8 never had any grille as OE in fact, being introduced as a very 'basic' model.

I saw the picture of this car earlier too on teambhp, perhaps in 2008 in the "Rust in Peices-Pictures of Disintegrating Vintage and Classic Cars" thread. The front grille (an accessory) and the paint colour are the same.
I too wish someone rescues the car. As it is, all Standards are becoming rarer. Even earlier, the Standard 8 was uncommon as compared to the Super 10. Super 10's , Pennants and Companions are all disappearing.

Re: Restoration of standard 8

Hello,
My Standard 8 was being used as a daily car until its Clutch Master cylinder started leaking the fluid. I am not able to find it in Bangalore. If some one help me and find it and send me I will be able to get it back on road. My mechanic suggests to use a Qualis clutch cylinder insted. Does any has a suggestion.

Good to see that you are using your classic as a daily driver unlike most folks. Until recently my w123 was my daily driver covered 19000km in 2 years of constant use not to mention kept was busy perfecting an almost showroom car. was fun giving her tlc. Sold her now thinking of another project. Keep driving

Canonball I really appreciate you for using the beauty for 19000KM in 2 years that only a real enthusiast can do. This car is stuck in the garage for a clutch master cylinder issue. Please Pray I can find it and fix it.

Wow! A vintage car as a daily ride? I thought that would be a very expensive deal considering the fuel efficiency and reliability.

Nice to see the restored clicks. Loved to see her with some chrome smile. Is it on the way?

I recollect the aged priest in my LP school used to ride around in a baby blue Standard 8. I think it had no chrome parts around.
