All the above pictures of fiat above are making me go crazy again and again to go deep into Fiat family.

I have Padmini S1, my question is that would I be able to maintain it for a decade or more? Seeing the above beauties, they manage to survive as Padmini, fiat young generation was alive in India, but who is there after Padmini. Nor Premier Auto provides its customer any help.

Lets hope some day Premier Auto realises her lost glory.

Fiats 1980-2009

Friends,

My fathers 1980 Premier Padmini Deluxe BE purchased for Rs. 75,000 from Premier Showroom in 1980, Hyderabad. My Linea purchased for Rs. 8,20,000 in April 2009. I was happier in 1980 - did not know anything more powerful other than Mercedes Benz W123 cars.

Well, AFAIK, Premier Auto Ltd. (PAL) is more or less defunct now, so that explains why they dont provide their customer any help!

Welcome aboard! Nice to see your family still having the padmini. BTW, is the regn. original? Because a Herald I had and recently sold to a friend was re-registered in Hyd. in '82, the regn. is ABU 3379. So ABU 6005 should've been after that.
Also didnt know the padmini cost as much as 75k in the 80s! Or was that the price of only the Deluxe (with AC, bucket seats, stereo etc.) back then?

Here's some photos of a Padmini that is under restoration at Chowdhury's Works just outside Calcutta.

He was the one I purchased my WBF-1 from.

That seems to be an import, not Premier. Also the image of the door insides is not the same car, probably the Chevy lying there.

Exactly! It's a Fiat 1100 Familare!

John, I hope you pick this one up from him as well, nothing like a genuine 1100 station-wagon in the family!

This yard is private collection. The owner had collected some much that he cannot maintain even one well, I asked wether he wants to sell, but he also seems confused what to do with them.

A very interesting long wheel base taxi based on the 1100 TV can be seen here. This is the first time I am seeing something like this. Neatly executed. Wonder if there are any survivors.

Man, am smelling some hot restoration threads from you. Raring to see some of them back in shape and cruising the road. Good Luck

Very interesting. The registration seems to be Italian itself so the cars must be from Fiat Italy itself rather than being region specific to some country like NSU, Premier, etc. This is the first time I came across such a variant and surely haven't come across it in any documentation (or owners manual supplement) from Fiat Italy. They perhaps must be offered by local coach builders like Starline offered Safari in India.

Anyways, how about replicating one from a standard car ??

Regards,
Adheesh Parelkar
