Re: Earliest Cars seen in India - Veteran and Edwardian

Pictured here is one Mrs Cama who was the first lady to take part in an automotive competition. She drove a Wolseley from Poona to Satara and back.

I am guessing she must be from Bulldogji’s family.

You are correct, a very mechanically minded lady .

She could strip and reassemble an engine without hesitation and drove with the confidence that she could get her car going, whenever it failed to proceed.

Karl, are you aware about the current status of these Veteran and Edwardian cars of Mallya? Hope they are safe and maintained well to this date.

The first car was bought by Mr. Foster and that was a 1897 Daimler motor carriage (Phoenix car, 4 hp)

Below Picture is from above link

Could this be the car in question?

Below picture is from the book Vintage cars which was given to me in the late 80's the lower right picture is of the similar car

By the way Mhow is Indore and near Pithampur. And it is where Crompton Greaves factory is situated, could not find out when it was established.

Well I am just trying to connect the dots. I am not sure and open to correction.
